Outstanding!

Seven of us from work went....it had been 20+ years since I ventured across town. I had the masitias, black beans and rice, PLUS the large sampler. The food was outstanding and the service was far better than I thought since we were a rather large party. This location is worth the stop! It's... read more

We first went to Cafe Piquet in the late 1990's and loved it several times we tried it. Over the years we stopped going - too far to drive now that Katy has so many good restaurants but I was in the area today and stopped in for a lunch at the bar. Great service, excellent food, and nice atmosphere.... More

Went for lunch. We ate a Rumba sampler. Alsoo had an empanada. Had 2 pork and one beef on the sampler. Also had boiled Yucca Which You Can have. Would like to have it more spicy. Atmosphere very nice. Would go back.

This is my favorite place to eat in Houston. If you're looking to eat traditional food from Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico this is definitely the place to go. They have everything from Ropa Vieja to Mofongo. And they also have the best "Cubano" sandwich in town. Don't get fooled by the area where it's located since it's not... More

Sunday day August 3, I was with my family's visit to the city of Houston, looking on the internet for a good Cuban restaurant there is me suggested the Cafe piquet. Once there I felt at home seeing me familiar with the names of dishes and drinks, but that surprise for me, not only were familiar names was the authentic... More

We love Cuban food and a restaurant review book of Houston said "this is where Cubans go to eat". The Sangria was refreshing, the fried yucca better than French Fried potatoes, but that is where my compliments end. We each had a different combination plate to try the offerings. Everything was BLAND. Not the flavorful Cuban food we love. Also... More

5 shared 3 plates and paid $120 including appetisers, coffee and desert. Fish plate is $22, but amazing carnitas (or masitas) pork plate is $12. Each plate can feed 2. Black beans, rice and plantains are simple and delicious as is flan desert and Cuban coffee. Avocado salad is a good start. Service adequate and polite but a bit detached.

I'll make it very simple, the food that was served to my family was not fresh. It may have been cooked that day, and yes it was edible, but from the taste of the food it wasn't freshly made. The plantains had a gooey bite, similar taste as if you made some at home. Ex: prepared platanos around lunch and... More

I looked online for a Cuban restaurant located near us (nothing is near us) and Café Piquet came up. I read some reviews, looked at their website and their menu and decided this was the place we were going to go for lunch. On my GPS it took us on a strange route considering the restaurant is located on Bissonnet... More

Ropa Viejaaaaa! Get it - you won't be disappointed. All items on the menu are great, including vaca frita, and mojito sauce (which is NOT a mojito drink). Really friendly folks - an authentic Cuban stop.
