Excellent Food

I took a friend to lunch there on a Friday. It was reasonably crowded but we were able to get a table. Food was outstanding. Portions fairly large. Houston natives know about the old Irmas which was in a rundown area east of downtown (now the ballpark), where there were no menus, you ate what they were making that day and tea and lemonade were free. The old Irma is now the new Irmas, a cleaned up version next to the ball park and they have opened this... More

We were in Houston for a mock trial competition. I had researched food in downtown and could not wait to try Irma's. I went to the original Irma's on Chevernet with my fellow coach and one of our students. We were pointed to a table in a corner and a waitress soon came and asked us what we wanted to... More

Server was energetic & recommended authentic Mexican dishes. Pork tamales and carnitas (pork, on a plate) were probably the best we've ever had (and we've been going to Mexican or TexMex for over 30 years).

We attended a birthday party and the food and music were both great! The appetizers of bacon wrapped shrimp, quesadillas, guacamole, and spicy hot sauce with chips were tasty. The entree selections plus the vegetables were also tasty. The fish with shrimp over it was really tasty. It was a fun night. This is a great venue for special events.... More

Irma's is easy to find, as it's almost right across the street from the Minute Made Complex in Houston. The first thing you notice as you drive up to the shop is that it's clearly a Mexican style restaurant, but not pretensions or a caricature of what some would suppose such a restaurant should look like. It's family owned and... More

My husband had a breakfast meeting here yesterday and was so impressed he wanted to bring me here today! Fabulous is all I can say. Was shocked to see someone had left a 1 star review, but when I actually read his review I realized he was like a buzzard being fed a rib eye when road kill would have... More

The food and service here was AWESOME. What wasn't awesome is that they don't have a menu. The very courteous staff tells you what's on the menu for that day. ASK THE PRICE. I ordered and sampler plate with tamale, enchilada and beef fajita taco. We had queso and my son had 3 plain beef tacos. Total bill was over... More

The place was packed. Was surprised that they don't offer a menu. Their food was very good. And it's just around the corner from minute maid park. If you eat there before a game, you park free.

I went here with a co-worker for lunch in mid-July 2014. To be fair, we had both heard about the high prices. After we were seated the waitress kept trying to push the lemonade on us. I decided to opt for the lemonade and had the poblano pepper entree. That was mistake Numero Uno. I also asked for a side... More
