Again, I must missing something because I cannot see what the fuss is about

Interesting building, nice staff. Food that a child might attempt. For example: I like grilled veggies (think zukes, capsicum...) but was served a charred, yet undercooked selection of veggies including broccoli. If you have ever accidentally let the water run out under steaming broccoli, then... read more

My first and probably only visit here. The group was served the same meal, surf and turf. The steak was cooked too much, the vegetables were soggy and limp. The best part of the dish was the lobster. The wine and chocolate moose dessert were very good.

I'm just back from valentines lunch with my wife. We both loved the restaurant and hotel. We had a nosey around upstairs and were very impressed by the art and the suites. I highly recommend Restaurant Cinq, it has so much character, very classy and the food is fantastic. Most importantly this place is better value than other high end... More

HRW comes to an end and we decided to try Cinq at La Colombe d'Or - a beautique Hotel on Montrose with a 50's style dining room - elegant and classy. For starters 2 of us had the escargot bubbling in rich garlic and parsley butter - delicious. The other had the tasty lobster bisque filled with crab meat. We... More

Ed Bodde and staff did an excellent job for daughter's wedding reception. Delicious appetizers and luncheon, attentive staff, lovely venue. They saw to the needs of our guests and helped us plan from a long distance.

Houston has great restaurants and so many of them get a lot of press. It has taken us 3 years to get to La Colombe d'Or and we wish we'd found this long ago. Everything about it is superb: remarkable ambience, fantastic food and service, and something very rare in Houston - relative quiet. You can actually have conversations without... More

LCD is one of our very great favorites in Houston. Intimate, quiet, elegant... like stepping back in time - and since it is the restored Fondren Mansion (founder of Exxon) we are talking very special. There are four dining areas, but we prefer the main room, surrounded by original art and dark paneling. The very personable service is special and... More

Our office staff had our annual Christmas lunch here and it was fabulous. The food, although pricey, was delicious, and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend it for a special occasion.
