Mexican Food with a Flair

My husband and I visited Hugo's after reading the excellent reviews. The restaurant lived up to our expectations. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff was welcoming. I had the Chiles en Nogada, which is a spicy chile dish, and baby romaine salad. The salad was presented beautifully. The... read more

I recently visited on Sunday for their buffet brunch with my gf's family. Hugo's is a lovely restaurant with great Mexican food. The place is very well decorated, clean, and the service attentive and professional. The buffet had dozens of options to fit all palettes. The only suggestion on my part is for a few more vegetarian options at the... More

A lovely Southwest atmosphere, hospitable staff and tasty food make this a place you want to visit while in Houston. From the margaritas (hand shaken at the table) to the presentation of main entrees there is a sense that management cares about food and hospitality. A well appointed and reasonably priced wine list ably supports the menu choices. We enjoyed... More

If you live in or visit Houston, you must have the brunch buffet at Hugo's. Hands down the best Mexican buffet I've ever had & I'm from So Cal.... It's classy, clean & delicious with a fantastic bar.

We had a delicious family dinner here. Everything was wonderful and despite having family members with very different tastes and preferences we were all very happy and satisfied. We had a vegetarian or two in the group and happily Hugo's has a special vegetarian menu if you ask for it. I had the chile rellenos which were great.

Great Regional Mexican cuisine (neither TexMex nor traditional Mexican) at its best: dishes prepared in a variety of way, and cooked with an array of regional spices and peppers; and perfectly executed. There were many things to choose from: steak, baby pig, lamb, goat, quail, fish, shrimp and plus others. Had the grilled octopus and the slow-roasted baby pig cooked... More

We have been to Hugo's several times. Most recently a couple of weeks ago for lunch. What a great restaurant. If you want Tex-Mex or even Mexican street food this is not your place. This is a true winner. The flavors of each dish are well defined and the options are great. I highly recommend Hugos.

Everyone told me the only thing to eat in Houston was TexMex, so since I was on an expense account I was looking for something a little more elevated, and Hugo's fit the bill. I went for a late lunch, and the restaurant was pretty quiet. Service was excellent, and the food was on point. I had the Taquito De... More

We arrived about 8:00 without reservation, and were seated immediately. We had decided to try some upscale Mexican cuisine. We we not disappointed! The menu is very eclectic, not only is there the standard beef, pork, chicken and fish dishes, but there is goat, rabbit, duck, beef cheeks, tuna and grasshoppers, all prepared with lovely accompaniments. We started with a... More
