Authentic and Fresh!

Went with a couple of business associates for the second time. Last time it was a few years ago which was fantastic. Some restaurants lose their quality over time, but tonight I came to conclusion that Hugo's has decided to keep paying attention to the good food. Here is what I read about Hugo's on... read more

Hugo's is known through out Houston as one of the top regional Mexican Cuisine restaurants. It is a beautiful place, and service is excellent, but the margaritas leave much to be desired and are over priced for what you get. the food menu is somewhat limited and the options are not as diverse as you would think for a restaurant... Do not expect Tex Mex at Hugo's.... Its not only authentically Mexican, but it's really, really great Mexican. I lived in Mexico for 7 years and Hugo's is as good as anything that I ate at any restaurant there. I had a mixed seafood plate that was spectacular good by any standard. the sea food was impeccably fresh, the preparation... More

Do not go to Hugo's if you are looking for Tex Mex food. This restaurant will provide to you a very interesting Mexican experience. The service was really good too. I didn't try the buffet, but I chose a very tasteful fish and moles and I finished will Tres Leches cake. I really recommend this place. Just for curiosity, this... More

Went with two of my BFFs this last week for dinner. We sat on the patio since the weather in Houston was so nice. Started with drinks, guac, and ceviche, which were all very good. Two of us ordered off the veggie menu – a nice possibility for us that are non-meat preferring diners. The food was all quiet good... More

If you are from out of town I urge you to try Hugo's. It is 10 steps above the standard Tex Mex fare on every Houston street corner. This is the place to find grilled pulpo (octopus), rabbit flautas, and many other adventurous dishes. Plus the standard dishes are done better here. The desserts, especially the flan de elote and... We tried a few kind of different Mexican food, chicken, lamb and desert as well but I can definitely say none of them was delicious. In addition to that, i had a problem with my stomach after I got to my hotel. Its huge and luxurious place however food is not so amazing here. The only a thing I really... More

Met the family here for Sunday dinner. Food was good a little pricey for Mexican food. Cost $47 per person without drinks. The service left a lot to desire. We were at two tables combined (7 people) the waitress stood at one end of the table and everyone had to call out their order. Most of us do not speak... More

A Houston friend took me to this place for dinner - it was his first and my second one. I came here when I last visited Houston last year. The restaurant deserves all the praise echoed by most reviewers here. Wonderful dishes with excellent service. I truly recommend Hugo's for those in search for excellent high end regional Mexican food.

Boy, reading recent TpAdv reviews made me think about my dinner at Hugo's. This isn't a typical commercial Mexican restaurant; no scoop on Spanish rice, refried beans & heavy sauce over an enchilada or burrito. Each entree is an attempt at an authentic dish. Fish fillets (grouper, snapper), shell fish (jumbo shrimp, scallops) are prepared well & served grilled or... More
