We had our partner's dinner and from entering the restaurant until departing Hugo's made it a wonderful time with great food and service. Worth the trip.

Hugo's belongs to a mexican chef, he gives a twist to every recipe... The food is glorious! No other place I've tried so far in Houston has this quality and variety of food. Make your reservation fon Sunday, it gets crowded...

Went for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Ordered a beef dish. The beans were great but the rice was big let down. Guacamole was really tasty and the corn tortillas were good. Service was excellent.

I tried Hugo's for a late lunch. Valet service was great. I was seated immediately. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all which is why I love late lunches. Service seemed a bit slow, but polite. I ordered the scallops, fried fish and goat cheesecake. I was disappointed. The scallops were cooked perfectly but not seasoned well. The fried catfish was... More

Went for Saturday brunch. Nice selections, some mainstays and some unique so something for everyone. Service slow but it was busy. Hostess handed us unsightly soiled menus which did not make for a great first impression. Lovely presentations. Watermelon salad was perfect. Huevos rancheros was the best my friend had ever had.

So worthy of the James Beard. Hugo's is worthy of satisfying that immediate need of something tasty. Sit at the bar, the rita's are to die for. I've been here before- my ultimate order is the octopus and lobster tacos. Simple, tender and cooked to perfection. These are easy ingredients to overcook but Hugo's always delivers. Always a pleasure to... More

We stopped here for dinner after searching online for the best authentic Mexican food in Houston. We had two delicious appetizers to start, empanadas de plantano and tuna ceviche. They were so good that we almost ordered another round. But when Javier described the specials, we couldn't resist the grouper dish. The grouper was fresh and perfectly cooked, served on... More

I visit Hugo's from time to time—it's close by and, at nighttime, they have a pretty good Oaxacan margarita. A friend and I stopped for lunch to try their Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. It was delicious. I have vegetable enchiladas—huge portion, I took half home—and they were delicious. For dessert, two kind of sorbet, one was passion fruit. Fresh and... More
