I'll be back

My husband and I ate here with old friends while visiting Houston last weekend and had a great meal. This was a great "welcome back to Texas" meal, complete with lovingly made Mexican food and great service. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. The dishes we ordered were great-- and I was super... read more

My wife's first cousin's wife and her daughter were visiting Houston from Nevada. We wanted to take them to a very good, Houston specialty restaurant and chose Hugo's. We started with glasses of white wine for the adults and lemonade for the teenager. We started with sharing their seasonal squash-blossom quesadillas which everyone loved. My wife had the Barbacoa (lamb... More

We had Sunday brunch. Fantastic. I did not anything I did not like. Lamb chops were exquisite. Desserts were plentiful and great. Did not like rice pudding not up to Greek standards but so much that was wonderful who needs rice pudding

The food here is great. I've never had a bad experience. They also have some options you won't find at many restaurants.Tried the grasshopper taco appetizer once, and it was delicious. Nice atmosphere and service as well.

We enjoy coming here for the new way of serving the flavors from South of the border. We have sampled quite a bit of the menu and have not been disappointed. The carnitas are uninteresting, but you get a lot of meat. The atmosphere is friendly without being overly loud (I truly hate LOUD restaurants and they are becoming the... More

My recent visit to Hugo's with my wife and our great friends didn't disappointed again. Margaritas are exceptional although maybe a bit on a small size for me ;) I always enjoyed appetizers and didn't shy away this time again. Service very good and reliable despite packed venue. Overall a definite must when in Houston and one of my fav... More

This is is where good food exists. It's not high end Tex-Mex so don't expect enchiladas. But the crab salad, duck with mole and snapper veracruz were all very good. The crab salad was the highlight of the night. We finished with the bread pudding that was a tad dry and needed a bit more sauce. We also very much... More

Hugo's has the most refined and interesting Mexican food in Houston. I have eat there at least a half-dozen times and continue to look for an opportunity to return. The margaritas are excellent. I purchased the least expensive Hugo Rita: refreshing and flavorful. Have never felt the need to upgrade their more fancy and more expensive margaritas so cannot comment... More

Fantastic Buffet style brunch on the weekends if you like meat ($30). Music from Mexico with brunch. Unique food, lots of vegetarian options on the regular menu. Some good happy hour options. Tacos Dorados de Papa (crispy potato tacos with avocado tomatillo salsa, napa cabbage and pickled onions). Enchiladas: two enchiladas stuffed with corn, poblano and calabacitas, topped with tomatillo... More
