Delicious food and drinks!

I don't go back to many restaurants when I am traveling for work. But this place is one of the few that I end up craving where I am back in Houston. Haven't had a dish I didn't like there. Yummm.

Go for lunch. Dinner isn't what it's cracked up to be here -- and quite pricey. The place is also pretty loud at some hours. The chiles nogada are excellent at lunch.

Great modern regional Mexican cuisine that is how I describe the place. Wonderful flavors, perfectly prepared and terrific service. It uses regional Mexican spices, sauces and cooking technique. However, I call it modern because it has ducks, quails and flowers in its dishes that I do not think are traditional Mexican food. Many fancy cocktails, but a very limited selection... More

The atmosphere was nice enough, but I found the food selection lacking. The restaurant seems to pride themselves on weird magazine looking entrees like grasshoppers & octopus but leaves your palate lacking. I had to send one drink back because it tasted so bad & the entree was so salty & tough (a skirt steak) that I couldn't eat it.... More

When I arrived here in Houston some years ago I heard about a restaurant called "Hugo'" which was run by a fabulous chef who adapted his mother's Mexican recipes into some fascinating eats. Well, Hugo has created a lovely place with great ambiance as well as great food! The place is packed every night! I reserve this venue for special... More

Delightful Latin food. Amazing Brunch. If you go to their brunch make sure you are hungry because you will eat until you can't anymore. Their salsas, shrimp cocktails, tamales, enchiladas, black beans, tres leches cake, and raspberry mimosas are to die for. If you go to their brunch do not forget to try everything!!

We picked Hugo's by looking at reviews for Mexican food near our hotel. We didn't make a reservation, so we had to sit outside on the enclosed patio. This was a serendipitous surprise! The patio is lovely, there is a tinkling fountain, lush vegetation and a cooling breeze. We had a fantastic dinner in a beautiful setting. The food is... More

Each time I eat at Hugo's I find something new that I love. The Sunday Brunch is a fantastic way to try out some of the more complex dishes served at Hugo's. This isn't a typical Mexican restaurant so some of the combinations of flavors are unusual, but nothing I've tried has ever been terrible. The tamales are moist and... More

Went during Restaurant Week. All courses were very good. Excellent sauces, great ingredients. You could tell a lot of care went into building great dishes. Easily in my top few restaurant experiences in Houston.

Outstanding food and service. Can be loud and difficult for comfortable conversation. Last visit was with a friend who has lived in Mexico City and has traveled extensively through South America. Interesting blend of flavors; tasty with a kick but not blasting hot. This time we had Capulines for an appetiser this is sautéed grasshoppers served with blue corn tortillas... More
