Good food, atmosphere and an extensive scotch menu

Having visited quite a few pubs in the UK - I can say the decor is spot on, the atmosphere is nice- I have had the fish and chips and the shepherds pie - It has always been very good on my visits (other reviews said otherwise). They carry an actual DRY cider which is my drink of choice if... read more

Black Labrador Pub is located on Montrose with St. Thomas University immediately to its west. Interesting mix of university students and Montrose neighborhood people. Food is "English pub." A little pricey, food is okay but not great. Lovely outside area beneath wonderful spreading oak trees that shade the herringbone brick paved parking area. Lots of english ivy growing up the... I've been to a number of Pubs in the UK and this is as close to a proper pub as I've seen in the US. Not a bar a pub, so no TV's and blaring music drowning out conversation. We went in to visit with some friends and it was a cold and rainy kind of day (just like England)... More

Drove in from Galveston today for lunch after hearing great recommendations from my coworkers. Had never been before. Got there at 1130am. Not many people there when we first sat down however when we left there were few, if any tables empty. The food, service and atmosphere were all GREAT. It was a foggy and rainy day - perfect day... A classic and beautiful pub setting. Guinness on draft, or other beer in bottles. The fish-and-chips were pretty good; others in the party ate a variety of other menu items - no one raved.

We went to dinner with a large group and they served us quite well. The atmosphere is suitable for a pub. They specialize in British food and I had bangers and mash. These are sausages with onions and baked beans. They were very pedestrian and nothing special. One of my friends really liked the mussels and said they were among... More

Attended a birthday party. There was quite a crowd but the waitress did not seem to have any problems taking care of everyone. The food was ok, not the greatest but not bad. Good selection of beer. Had a great time.

First, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and it might be worth a visit back just for that reason. However, I had perused the menu online for days before visiting, and I knew just what I wanted: English herb chicken with wild rice and sauteed spinach. The chicken was herbed all right, and it wasn't subtle. The rosemary was way... More

Ex pat's yearning for a pint and some pub grub will find this a good choice. Their fish and chips are quite good and the beer choice extensive. It manages to create an authentic pub atmosphere for folks to enjoy. parking can be tricky in busy days as space is limited . Well worth a visit.
