A slice of England in very un-English weather!

We've frequented the Black Lab a few times in the 8+ years we've been here and never had a bad meal. Some of the fare advertised as English really isn't, but it wasn't too bad. Shepherd's Pie is with lamb, not beef, and the 'snake and pigmy' (steak and kidney to non-cockneys!) pie was good, but not... read more

Casual & (mostly) quiet during the early evening, making this a great place to bring both my young daughter & my 75 year-old mother, often at the same time. The food is quite good & has been consistent over many months. So much so that it has become a fairly regular spot for us. The service has been exceptional &... More

Pub was infested with gnats and had to fight the bugs for my food...in the end I gave the food up to the bugs. They served what they called Pints that were actually American 16 oz.glasses of beer rather that your Irish/British 20oz. It was priced for the 20 Pint too! Talked to the manager ...after I tracked him down.....he... More

Food was good, but right now they have a TERRIBLE fruit fly problem. We had to leave early which was a shame because we were visiting with family. I probably will not be back any time soon, if ever.

Lovely British style Pub with lot's of charm. So vine covered that we drove by twice, even though their signature Red Telephone Booth was right out front! Heavy growth of vines and trees add to the exterior charm and ambience. Once inside, we were seated and attended to quite quickly. First order up a couple Chelsea Lemonade's we found very... More

The Pub is terrific - and a slice of Merrie Olde England here in Bayou Country. But the food is mediocre and bland. I went to a party in the Cezanne room. Just passable food. Go for the Pub and some Pub fare, but don't go for dinner - your time and money are better spent elsewhere. Unimaginitive, staid food.

When you go to a restaurant for the first time, even armed with reviews from Trip Advisor, you can't be sure what you are in for. We went to the Black Lab to have lunch with friends on a Thursday. I doubt there were more than eight tables occupied. It is a pleasant setting. I don't know squat about the... More

We've been going to the Black Lab for 6 years and plan to keep going for the next 6. But we'll be careful about what we order. We recently tried the evening's special, a Reuben. We didn't get a Reuben. We got a sliced beef sandwich, dry except for some sauerkraut. The beef was tasty, the sauerkraut was OK, but... More

The Black Lab is a wonderful English pub experience in the heart of Texas. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. The pub offers both indoor and outdoor seating and is lovely for a chilly day by the fire inside or an evening on the patio when the weather is nice. The bar offers a wide range of beverages from mixed... More
