We went to the Black Labrador last night. We had never been before. The decor was great but the service , food and drinks were one of the worst I have experienced in a long while. They were not busy yesterday at all maybe 5 tables. But the waitress took about ten minutes to acknowledge us. We ordered drinks That... More

We visited this pub on two separate occasions whilst on a recent trip to Houston. It has to be said that the first time, we enjoyed the food far more (Chicken Labrador & Steak and Kidney Pie) than the second time (Fish and Chips and Orange & Bourbon Salmon) so perhaps it's all about the food choice. Certainly if you... More

Intentionally rustic, this throwback from the Pubs on the outskirts of London is a must if you have ever experienced London or the U.K. In general. With Pints of ale flowing and pub food plentiful, the atmosphere will keep you enjoying the noise chatter. One big drawback ... parking!

The food is ridiculously over-priced and in no way represents British food. I am British. The Fish & Chips was an ordeal. The furnishings were not pleasant, the decrepit wobbly table we had was a bit off-putting. After trying the place, I wouldn't even stop there for a beer. Overall not a good dining experience. The beer was over-priced. Whoever... More

You may think that you have traveled across the Pond, when you are at the Black Lab. The food is solid and wonderful pub food.

We arrived around 12:45pm on a Saturday afternoon. Only one couple at the bar, we opted for al fresco. Two couples outside. We ordered drinks and our food. Forty minutes later it finally arrived. What were they doing? One friend had a hamburger, she commented that the meat was totally tasteless and left most of it. My other friend had... More

Rip Off- They dare to charge $10 for lousy drinks. No wonder why the menu does not have a price. We paid $30 for 3 lousy drinks: a margarita on the rocks that has more water and ice than liquor; a coffee with some liquor, served without any special whip cream as in high scale restaurants, and a sunset punch,... The ambience here is fantastic - it's nice and it does feel like a real English pub. Food isn't so hot, but then that's true in a lot of real English pubs...

While it seems that Irish pubs are ubiquitous, a great British pub is a little more hard to find. While touring the wonderful city of Houston I noticed the red phone booth, the ivy covered facade, and the Black Lab sign -- all of which stood out like a Welcome beacon. British Pubs are a haven for the weary traveller... More

Happens to me my girlfriend's favorite restaurant when she lived in Houston. Good grub pub food, good value and a very relaxing atmosphere. Friendly wait staff
