Old school Italian

We were a little concerned that Da Marco was not rated in the top 100 Houston restaurants and that it offered Italian wines only. They also do not serve liquor, so do not expect to have a cocktail before dinner. All said, we did enjoy the bread, salads, service, veal chops and the atmosphere. If... read more

I don't think I can give a high enough scored for Da Marco's. Always perfection. Great Italian wine list and impeccable service. Expensive so we only go once a month. But for Houston's best dining experience call ahead for a table. I've breve left not promising to return.

The food was outstanding and the service poor to being on the edge of rude. The restaurant was not terribly busy but yet the wait staff was not attentive at all. Our salads arrived and our waiter offered fresh blank pepper to one side of the table and stepped aside. We had to request the pepper from a manager... We... More

This restaurant is so hyped that it's hard to know what to expect; some reviews are glowing while others have complaints like snooty service or waiting at the tiny bar more than an hour past the reserved time. We had some trepidation. We were shuffled into the bar when we arrived and prepared ourselves for a long wait as the... More

I was researching top restaurants in America and came across Da Marco in Houston.....I thought really? My wife and I have traveled in Italy, eaten in great Italian restaurants in NYC and our meal here set the bar! We had a pasta dish that had a soft boiled egg inside it! I don't know how they made it but that... More

Da Marco generally is consistently very good, but we were disappointed on our last visit. The chalkboard menu promoted an heirloom tomato, cheese and proseco salad. Disaster. Tomato was tasteless, and it came with overpowering cheese and what appeared to be sliced ham. Took two bites. Main course was good. Would have sent the salad back but we were guests.

The ambiance, the service, the food and the wines combine to make Da Marco the best restaurant in town. We have patronized this restaurant many times and we have never been disappointed. On our most recent visit, we started with a delightful glass of Franciacorta, followed by grilled octopus and spaghetti with sea urchin. This latter dish is sensational! You... More

We had a business dinner planned for this place. They did NOT tell us when reserving they didn't serve mixed drinks or beer other than fancy Italian brands. We all looked across the table at each other and proceeded to leave the place and find somewhere else more accommodating. Absurd that a place that charges these prices doesn't serve drinks.... More

This is a very special Italian restaurant, offering authentic Italian cooking with beautifully fresh ingredients. It's hard not to eat too much as you'll want to try so many things. Definitely have the prosciutto and the pasta (or share the pasta) and leave room for a main course. Note that you need to dress up a bit, if you try... More

I went there following recommendations on internet. I came in and it was quite nice. I had a drink , nothing special, waiting my wife... She was never able to get in because she had snickers and not casual shoes ! People were in jeans, some in T-shirts, and nothing was never written about this strange rule ! Even after... More
