Best Non-Traditional Italian in Houston

An interesting menu with a strong Italian slant that uses very high quality ingredients and skilled preparation. The restaurant has a fair priced wine selection that contains offerings not offered everywhere. The service was friendly but inconsistent. It varied between water glasses being filled... read more

Da Marco remains our very favorite restaurant in Houston. Always consistent, we love the food, the service and the ambiance. The extensive Italian wine list represents all wine regions of Italy, although it clearly favors Tuscany, the Piemonte and the Veneto. The angel hair past with fresh white truffle is to die for. The grilled octopus is an all-time favorite.... More

Well, celebrated a birthday here with out of town visitor and the food actually was really fresh and good, I had the known truffles special (can be expensive compared to other restaurants!) and it was good-strong unique taste with the pasta made fresh at the table which was enjoyable. The duck was a little wild gamey taste but still good... More

I recently celebrated a birthday with a few friends. Her husband called and asked for a birthday cake and we all got to order what we wanted. It was a surprise and four of us showed up early and the waiter asked us if we would like a glass of champagne. We all said yes and he brought us our... More

For a high end restaurant, the service and the food was pretty spotty. I had the Business Lunch, which at $29 is a good deal if you don't mind the limitations (i.e. no Sweet Corn Ravioli with Lobster). Loved the Artichoke appetizer, and the Short Ribs over Polenta -- if you like these foods, it is the best deal at... More

Looking for a Christmas eve dinner in Houston, Da Marco Cocina e vino appeared as an alternative. So call for Christmas eve and was full, saw the menu, and decided to go the day before. The first thing you see once enter the restaurant is a cristal jar with uncooked rice a big white truffle inside with several bottles of... More

We went for our birthday and the service and food was amazing. The reason I'm giving it 4 dots instead of 5 is that it is very expensive. We had a white truffle pasta appetizer that was $85. I realize truffles are expensive but the portion was very small. My husband and I have been to Florence and had the... More

From the owners to the staff to every bite of food, every sip of wine, all I can say is SPLENDID! I attended the Venezia Dinner on Nov 23rd and will fly back to Texas from Virginia next year if they repeat the fete.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. Reviewing the menu left us with a lot of questions since we are more familiar with French food, but Cesar, our understated (by that I mean discerning but not pushy), knowledgeable, and very helpful waiter not only answered our questions but took the time to draw out from us what we would... Great Italian restaurant with a thorough wine list, however, they only featured Italian wines. It would have been nice to see a few domestic or French options on there too. Food was top notch albeit slightly on the salty side. We ordered several appetizers as well as the porterhouse to share. It's a lot of meat so you definitely can... More
