An Oldie and a Goodie

Originally the first vegetarian restaurant in Houston, it now offers meat options. Still, the Middle Earth decor is delightful, and the old favorites are still huge, filling and excellent. Love the Gandalf. Great avocado sandwich options. Excellent fruit salad. It's a little trip down memory lane.

A stop for the Hobbit fan, not sure beyond that. There's potential to expand the theme greatly! Outside the name, a few movie poster, Precious statue at the door, and few named food items, it's basically a cafe with a mixed bag menu (they're really all over the map, the identity is confusing...menu is more expansive than cafe soup, sandwich,... They have excellent burgers. I have been several times and do not think I've ever had anything I didn't like. This is one of the few places I go that I don't order the exact same thing each time. I don't live on that side of town and it is well worth the trip.

I heard for years about the Hobbit Cafe from my friends. I took it off the Bucket List this week. My son and I went for lunch. My son had the Buffalo Burger with seasoned fries. He said it was great (he had another one a couple days later). I had the Lamb Burger. Both burgers were topped with exotic... More

My husband and I just visited after a long run and are currently in a food coma from the Black and Bleu Burger and the Frodo. Massive portions, interesting beers and cute atmosphere!

I have been coming to this restaurant for years and the food has generally been palatable although the service has been spotty. Went there with my wife tonight . We were surprised that there were spaces available in the parking lot as that has always been the main problem, but we were thankful. We had a very short wait for... More

Nice variety of sandwiches and tex mex, with a good variety of vegan and veggie choices if you have different dietary requirements in your group. I would skip the onion rings- they pulled out of breading in one bite. Nice outdoor seating and plenty of parking.

Recently went here for ouch with a friend. My friend had a Smaug Sandwich which was a massive avocado sand which which he could only get half through. I went for a burger and was not disappointed. It was huge and tasty, a great value for just over $10. This is a unique little restaurant with a nice patio, place... More

Came here upon the recommendation of some family members and it did not disappoint! We were fortunate to have had good weather the day we came so we opted to sit outside (in the porch area) under a sprawling tree. It was a perfect set-up too as we had quite a few people in our party. Our servers were nice... More

We are huge Lord of the Rings fans and were very intrigued to check this place out. Located in Upper Kirby, tucked in behind some other little restaurants. The restaurant is a little old house with a big front porch. We sat outside and as it got dark outside, the little Christmas string lights were not quite enough light but... More
