Pricey, but a great lunch menu

This is a european restaurant, with a really nice lunch menu, but pretty proud of their prices at night. For lunch, they always have a special (which is Euro-style drink, main course, desert), and it usually is less than $15. Food is very good - It is not a restaurant I would favor for dinner.

We had a great night at the restaurant, with our friends for a birthday party. The owners were extremely nice and very professionals with preparation and arrangements. The service through the night was also perfect with attention to every detail and the food of course was excellent. Will definitely come back and lively recommend.

Who would expect to find an haute-cuisine European fine dining restaurant in a mid-town strip mall? At Charivari you will find an eclectic menu prepared by the Romanian born, German Johann Schuster. I had the house schnitzel stuffed with foie gras --- yikes that is rich and delicious --- surrounded by white asparagus in a fine hollandaise sauce. They also... More

We visited Charivari again during a German wine-tasting event. German wines are not appreciated in Houston, so every opportunity we have to learn, taste and enjoy, we sign up. Johann Schuster outdid himself again. The arctic char appetizer with white asparagus was sensational and well paired with a dry Riesling. After the customary palate-cleanser we enjoyed a wonderful roasted and... More

We had a nice visit and enjoyed each course. I'm surprised that it was so quiet, even on a Thursday night. We will be back.

There aren't many places you can still go where the people take the time and energy to make their customers happy, both from the experience they have in the restaurant and in the quality of the food they serve. I go back to Charivari on at least a monthly basis for both of these reasons, and am never disappointed. This... More

This is a European restaurant that lives locally here in Houston Texas. And it never fails to please! A cream of broccoli soup and pasta bolognese for a $10 lunch special? Delicious and affordable. Try the coffee Scheumlie with a fabulous dessert ...

The exterior is underwhelming, but the interior and the food make you feel that you have left Texas. The service was perfect!

My husband and I have been coming here for many years and love the food and the chef owner. He and his wife are so personable and always spend extra time with the guests. We took some friends and they said they would be coming back. Great German dishes plus many other selections.

Located in a strip center in the busy Midtown-Montrose area, this restaurant is suitably decorated so that it has a Old World feel. This was certainly an older more sedate crowd. The chef is Romanian and his wife appears to be the greeter and she was very nice. The appetizers and salads came quickly but then there was an eternal... More
