Description: In 1982, we opened Tony Mandolaʼs Blue Oyster Bar on the Gulf Freeway, which we owned and operated for 22 years. A second Tony Mandolaʼs Blue Oyster Bar debuted on Shepherd in 1984, which he closed four years later in order to open our famous West Gray Tony Mandolaʼs flagship location. Our lifelong dream of owning a freestanding restaurant has now become a reality with the opening of our new, permanent Tony Mandola's location at 1212 Waugh Drive. We take great pride in serving what we think is some of the best food on the Gulf Coast. Everything is homemade fresh in our kitchen daily and many of our dishes are our Mamas' recipes. God Bless our Mamas and God Bless you for your patronage.“Dedicated to the preservation of the art of Mamas' Cooking.” Sincerely,Tony & Phyllis Mandola

We stopped for cocktails and appetizers and sat on the patio. It was a lovely evening and the house white wine was lovely, too. We enjoyed an assortment of yummy appetizers and the great service you get when someone is in training and being trailed by their trainer. Two people to make sure we had everything we needed!

After our last visit in November, we decided to give Tony Mandola's another try since the food was so delicious. We arrived with no reservation on a Sunday evening. The were full, but the hostess saw my elderly mom was having trouble getting around and found us a table rather than send us elsewhere. How sweet is that? This visit,... More

Always enjoy this restaurant that feels homey even in its newish expansive digs. Service is always top notch and food reliably good like a neighborhood restaurant should be.

I've been a patron of Tony Mandola's for 12 years. It has always been a top-notch place to dine. Friendly employees and a truly wonderful owner. He is just a great guy. However, this Restauranteur may be loosing his way. I've been traveling for the past few months and haven't been into his restaurant. I went there to eat last... More

The best thing about Mandola's is the interesting mix on the menu. It is basically an Italian restaurant with fish and steak on the menu. However, there are a few dishes that incorporate a little Cajun, Creole or even Mexican. The pablano pepper is outstanding! The pasta dishes are above average. I have always had good service there. Highly recommended.

I noted good reviews of Tony Mandola's on the Best of Houston. We decided to visit for brunch on Sunday and I easily made my reservations online. We were seated at a table along the windows next to the doors to the patio. Sitting there we thought we had the best of both worlds - the fresh air of the... More

We had reservations on a Friday night at 6 so we would have plenty of time to get to an 8 p.m. concert. The restaurant only had a few occupied tables and the hostess tried to seat us at a table adjacent to the bar and only the second one from the entry/waiting area. I asked to be moved to... More

Late Saturday afternoon meal was very good. We had blackened red snapper with lime butter sauce, the shrimp stuffed pablano pepper and blackened catfish with etouffee. It was all very good fresh ingredients and good service. Highly recommended.

We ate here for lunch while at an event in Houston and found it decent. We've eaten at most of the higher end places in Houston when we come in for events and found this place on the bottom rung of the high end. I started with the gumbo, which needed more spice and salt, but was still a quality... More

Ok so that actually happened 2 weeks ago... I went to the Wortham Theater for a presentation on a saturday which would be finishing around 21:00-... So I called Tony Mandola's to get a reservation - the website says the restaurant is open until 23:00pm! - and first of all, the woman said a reservation for around 21:20 would be... More
