Description: In 1982, we opened Tony Mandolaʼs Blue Oyster Bar on the Gulf Freeway...
In 1982, we opened Tony Mandolaʼs Blue Oyster Bar on the Gulf Freeway, which we owned and operated for 22 years. A second Tony Mandolaʼs Blue Oyster Bar debuted on Shepherd in 1984, which he closed four years later in order to open our famous West Gray Tony Mandolaʼs flagship location. Our lifelong dream of owning a freestanding restaurant has now become a reality with the opening of our new, permanent Tony Mandola's location at 1212 Waugh Drive. We take great pride in serving what we think is some of the best food on the Gulf Coast. Everything is homemade fresh in our kitchen daily and many of our dishes are our Mamas' recipes. God Bless our Mamas and God Bless you for your patronage.“Dedicated to the preservation of the art of Mamas' Cooking.” Sincerely,Tony & Phyllis Mandola

Brunch at Tony Mandolas

We recently had Sunday Brunch at the new Tony Mandola location. It was our first time there although we had been many times to the old location in River Oaks. I have to say it was delightful; the service was great and the food good. Eggs Benedict with crab cakes, gulf coast style, instead of... read more

Visited this restaurant last night to celebrate my daughters birthday with my grandson. She is new to Houston so this restaurant was recommended by an acquaintance of hers. We tried in March to walk in to have dinner w/o reservations but was told they were completely booked for the rest of the evening and this was early evening (6 ish).... More

Food was sumptous, with great selection of seafood, soups, crepes etc. The usual fare but coupled with soft live music, great service made it a very enjoyable meal with family. The only suggestion: perhaps include coffee/tea in pricing. It is after all "brunch".

Valet parking then seated for our reservation. Wait staff very attentive and food was amazing. Soft shell crabs were very popular at our table and everyone enjoyed their meal. Great desserts!

Food was decent but definitely not as good as expected or should have been. Nice environment but very loud, not terrible but would not go back.

This is a great place if you love fresh gulf seafood. We ate there this weekend and I had the redfish martha (sauce with shrimp, crabmeat and crawfish). Perfect!

We went on a quiet night with friends who are regulars here. Since it was our first time, we followed their lead and all of us got the Sicilian salad and the gulf red snapper, either grilled or plancha, with differing toppings. We were all very pleased with the food, and the wine selection. The owner greeted all of us... More

Well, the ratings give this nice noisy open bar/ restaurant higher ratings than earned. The salads are ok but nothing special as well as the trio oysters which would not recommend or any oysters since they tasted not fresh and weird taste. I would be careful if you do order. The filet is average and some of the other dishes... More
