Description: In 1982, we opened Tony Mandolaʼs Blue Oyster Bar on the Gulf Freeway, which we owned and operated for 22 years. A second Tony Mandolaʼs Blue Oyster Bar debuted on Shepherd in 1984, which he closed four years later in order to open our famous West Gray Tony Mandolaʼs flagship location. Our lifelong dream of owning a freestanding restaurant has now become a reality with the opening of our new, permanent Tony Mandola's location at 1212 Waugh Drive. We take great pride in serving what we think is some of the best food on the Gulf Coast. Everything is homemade fresh in our kitchen daily and many of our dishes are our Mamas' recipes. God Bless our Mamas and God Bless you for your patronage.“Dedicated to the preservation of the art of Mamas' Cooking.” Sincerely,Tony & Phyllis Mandola

We ate here for lunch while at an event in Houston and found it decent. We've eaten at most of the higher end places in Houston when we come in for events and found this place on the bottom rung of the high end. I started with the gumbo, which needed more spice and salt, but was still a quality... More

Ok so that actually happened 2 weeks ago... I went to the Wortham Theater for a presentation on a saturday which would be finishing around 21:00-... So I called Tony Mandola's to get a reservation - the website says the restaurant is open until 23:00pm! - and first of all, the woman said a reservation for around 21:20 would be... More

Every meal at Mandola's has been perfect and the service is top notch. When I ask a waiter for a suggestion, I feel they are giving honest advice and not steering me to some food item they are pushing or trying to get rid of

The service was impeccable with Tony himself checking on our table. We all tried different dishes from gumbo pizza to seafood pasta. Delicious!!!! We will be back when in Houston again.

Visited on Saturday night. The handmade pasta / fish special was wonderful. Problem was the one and half hour wait for the food to arrive.

Even though Im not a Seafood person, I enjoyed this restaurant. Tony Mandola's is loved in this city by fans of Gulf Coast Seafood, but because Im allergic to shellfish, I never indulged. I attended a dinner meeting last night where the hostess selected Mandola's. She preselected the menu giving a fish, beef and poultry entree choice. I selected the... More

A colleague and I met a client here for dinner on a Monday evening. The restaurant was not very crowded so we were surprised when it came to order that our server was too tied up with another table and someone else had to take our order. He seemed to return later but it was a little bothersome. As for... More

In the past I use to frequent this restaurant at least 2x a week. Over the years the portions have gotten much smaller and the prices have gone way up. I don't really want to pay $35 for a square piece of fish. The last time I was there they weren't serving their food with limes because of the cost?????... More

We really enjoyed our Easter Brunch at Tony's. We ate outside on a beautiful day, the food (breakfast food for us) and service was great and the $1.99 mimosas went down easy.

This must be the best happy hour menu I have ever seen. Almost everything is $5, including excellent wine. We joined our daughter, 2-1/2 year old twin grandchildren, and their dog on the patio and had the most wonderful time. We kept the babies and dog (who was served a bowl of water) at the table while dining and while... More
