Above Average Breakfast in Houston 7:30am weekends !

Well, Houston is brunch city. The problem is if you want a regular breakfast on the weekends, it is hard to locate a place to eat and especially early like 7:30am. However, there is a place and this is a good place to start the day. The Vitro or just regular eggs and coffee is simple and well done... read more

The food sample plates on display are very well displayed but we came in for a slice of cake and coffee. What a great place. First time there but when in Houston the Empire Cafe will be a must stop. The best SLICE of cake I have in years! All I can say is share if you can but it... More

My family and I were impressed with the variety and quality of the food. Shrimp bisque was surprisingly one of the best I've ever had (including high-end restaurants). The spinach-stuffed chicken dish and sides were a big hit too along with their freshly made chicken salad. Will definitely return!

I'm new to the Houston area and was looking for a good brunch place with some friends. Someone else recommended this place so we visited on a Saturday just after noon and ordered mimosas and specialty egg dishes. You order at the counter and then find a table. There's indoor and outdoor seating available and even though it looked like... More

The coffee is good, the staff is friendly, nice outdoor space, good food choices. Great eggplant parmesan, shrimp and angel hair pasta, nice salads. Known for their huge slices of cake. It's been around forever and popular for weekend brunch, weekday lunch and all week dinners. I go there all the time. My neighborhood favorite.

One our favorite breakfast stops. Always packed on Saturday mornings but food has always been perfect and coffee is always hot and fresh, quality coffee. Counter service is quick, staff know what they are doing and quickly move the line. Always friendly and act with a sense of urgency.

Four of us went in on a week night last week (not a busy weekend). The place was very busy and I have always heard good things about it so we thought it would be good. We ordered 5 total dishes, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. We waited almost 30 minutes for our food, which you order yourself at a... More

Empire is a classic old restaurant with surprising ambience and a walk-up counter to order. Food is great and they have a happy hour with free appetizers. We go there often on weekdays when we are not in the mood to cook. Watch our for the tremendous display of cakes as you are waiting to place your order. They look... More

Several family members and I have been here three times this month and haven't been unhappy with our choice. Their coffee is delicious and you can't go wrong with any breakfast choice, as we've had several selections. The outdoor seating is very pleasant even if the weather is a bit muggy.

Visited for Saturday brunch with two couples and 3 young kids - although bustling, we were able to find parking and a table fairly quickly. Ordered the Italian toast which was a delicious alternative version of French toast with fresh berries on top and a Milky Way iced coffee. Very sweet but oh soo delicious - a chilly mix of... More
