Great food, poor coffee!

Empire is large, spacious and well organized. It has a superb food collection. The atmosphere is friendly and engaging. In fact it's perfect, except the coffee is too large and feels "machine made". It certainly doesn't live up to expectations. Australians would be disappointed by the coffee, but... read more

Lovely eatery. Stopped for breakfast. Folks had mimosas bloody Mary's. Baileys in coffee. Great fresh fruit. Very eclectic menu. We had frittatas. Omelette. Eggs Benedict . Free news papers. Fast friendly service.

There were 5 in our party, and it took some work for 2 of our group to find a table. One ordered the Breakfast Tacos, and she reported that they were OK. Three of my group ordered various omelettes, and they said this entree was delicious. I ordered the Italian toast with the berries on the side, and my entree... More

Loved the place sat outside on a sunny day. The line was long, you stand in line order and then pick up your food. The omelette was very tasty and their hummingbird cake was delicious!

We are waking distance from the cafe and can always rely on grabbing a quick bite here. Everything from pastries to dinner plates to desserts are great. Weekend brunches are the best but you gotta get here early to be guaranteed a table, not to mention having to starting in huge long lines!

1st visit. Went on a Sunday , had the pasta bowl special with the bean soup. Very tasty. Very busy around 1pm, but tapered off pretty quickly. Indulge in a slab of one of their cakes you see in the order line.

I found this restaurant thanks to tripadvisor and the helpful reviews! I'm adding my positive review to the mix. We were in Houston for three days and we ate breakfast at the Empire all 3 mornings. It was never crowded as it was not the weekend. You take a menu, decide what you want to eat and order at the... More

Thi8s place has it all. From brekfast to lunch to dinner, lotsa beers, an open patio which is very spatious and with a lot of people. The queue is long but it moves fast. Very cool place.

Another strange place the kids dragged us to during our visit. No table service but the meal is delivered. Order at the front and it comes quick enough. Coffee comes with a cookie! The food was very good. But the place is packed on the weekend.

I come sometimes for Sunday brunch (even rode my bike in the rain with 2 others once) and come for lunch. They have good salads with complicated stuff on them. Love complicated salads. The fritatas and their version of eggs benedict are favorites. For lunch though they have an entry special that is chicken stuffed with spinach and prosciutto with... More
