Outstanding lunch!

What a great place to meet friends for lunch. On my recent trip to Houston we once again went to Paulie's on Wertheimer and once again enjoy the company and the meal. Excellent service and top quality food at a reasonable price. Great location!

They make their own pasta and supply other restaurants in Houston. Think about a way to taste as many dishes as you can. Bring friends and make your own tapas meal. Some great ones to put on your list are: Veal Chops & Spaghetti Caesar--Veal Chops topped with Mushroom Sauté, served with Spaghetti Caesar. They put a nice char on... More

Be forewarned! Some of their full-sized dishes are big enough for two people!! I can't remember the name, but I think it is Shrimp Fettuccine that was gloriously huge, and really really good. I also like their spaghetti and meatballs - a basic classic.

Paulie's is the 3rd best walk-up and order place inside the Loop according us us. It has good value and is great for a weekday meal.

I really like Paulie's. Very bright, airy and open space... casual but not dressed down. I like their menu though tend to stick to the bucatini amatriciana (while I like the spice level, it would send most Italians into the stratosphere) and am a big big fan of the all-Italian wine list. Portions are quite healthy and, in my opinion,... More

Paulie's is my wife's favorite pasta restaurant. It's a no-nonsense walk-up service pasta restaurant, where you walk up fast-food style to order, but the pasta is really good. Honestly, if you order a full plate, you can probably split it with someone and walk away fully satisfied. Well prepared, very good pasta, and Texas sized portions as well. Don't forget... More

Paulie's is always pleasantly busy. The homemade pasta is delicious and the staff are very sensitive to allergies. We frequently drive across town to eat here. Delicious. Great selections of desserts and coffee, too.

I'm visiting from the UK again, and just wanted some good Italian food. This place was recommended to me, and I took my teenage son who is with me on this trip, as we both love Italian food. He had the rigatoni bolognese and I had the chicken parmesan. I tried the pasta and it was good, though I didn't... More

We love Paulies. The food and service are always great. You need to be prepared for a wait for the food and because it's so popular there is limited seating. They have a lovely wine bar next door so we go there and have a glass of wine while we wait. The food is really worth the wait.

We've done lunch and dinner at Paulie's and often bring our friends and family here when they're in town. I've had pastas, spinach salad and paninis (Pizzitola and Principe) here, and they've all been great. And they make great leftovers. The Principe panini may be my favorite. My husband loves the Bucatini Amatraciana pasta, but they will warn you that... More
