Nice French restaurant

This is a nice option if you like French food and wine. Dishes are mostly delicious and the chef is innovative. We sat side by side on the counter overlooking the open kitchen. It was fun! Was recently here for the fifth time - sometimes with large groups, sometimes with small. In the past, I would have rated it above average. This time there was something off. The charcuterie au poisson was heavy, salty, and one of the fish was undercooked. The wine list was not particularly interesting and they switched vintages on the wine I... More

My boyfriend and I love Artisans. Yes it may be a little pricy but it's so worth it. I would recommend sitting at the chefs table/bar by all the kitchen action! It's fun for couples. Some of my favorites are the tuna appetizer, the carrot soup, and the pepper crusted beef tenderloin is AMAZING!! The wait staff is also very... More

What a find! A piece of Paris, France in Houston, Texas! This is authentic French cuisine, with all the staff and training you'd expect from a top class spot. But this is a gem of a place, and by going here for dinner you'd save thousands on the airfare to Paris! The owner, Jacques, is a genuine Paris chef, and... More

If you are looking for a dining experience or special cebration, this is it. The French themed menu is superb, the wine list very reasonably priced and the service discrete. We enjoyed scallops, snails and smoked salmon starters, with steak au poivre and snapper entrees. The entrees were served with a decent sized portion of vegetables, it was a pleasant... More

French cuisine in downtown Houston? Bravo Jacques Fox, chef extraodinaire with a fare (Savoir-faire) to match. This character knows what he is doing from the kitchen to the cuisine to the seating to the schmoozing. Artisans is a welcomed Eurpoean delight sizzling hot in the center of Houston. Don't expect bistro or cajun just because Jacques is creating on the... More

I had dinner today at Artisans. The food was excellent from start to finish. I had the goat's cheese tarte tatin as an appetizer, then the chicken & lobster as main. Both were extremely good. Service was very helpful and friendly.

I have traveled to over 18 countries including France and the French Canadian Provence of Quebec. Artisan definitely would hold its own in France or Quebec. This is a truly special restaurant Houston has to offer. I recommend the tasting menu with wine pairing. Each course is as good as the last. It makes it difficult to pick a favorite... More

Busy Friday night but server let us chill at the table and get to know each other over complimentary foie gras bites and then our appetizer or escargot (both very tasty). We both ordered a fish dish that were very tasty. The dessert trio of flavored crime brûlée was yummy too. Tables are close together so we shared conversation with... More

This is one of my favorite spots in Houston. The food is creative, full of flavor and overall amazing. It is nice to have a place where you can have a conversation over dinner and actually be able to hear! My most recent visit was for a large business dinner. The location and space is excellent. The room was very... More
