Top class food and ambience

If you are looking for a dining experience or special cebration, this is it. The French themed menu is superb, the wine list very reasonably priced and the service discrete. French cuisine in downtown Houston? Bravo Jacques Fox, chef extraodinaire with a fare (Savoir-faire) to match. This character knows what he is doing from the kitchen to the cuisine to the seating to the schmoozing. Artisans is a welcomed Eurpoean delight sizzling hot in the center of Houston. Don't expect bistro or cajun just because Jacques is creating on the... More

I had dinner today at Artisans. The food was excellent from start to finish. I had the goat's cheese tarte tatin as an appetizer, then the chicken & lobster as main. Both were extremely good. Service was very helpful and friendly.

I have traveled to over 18 countries including France and the French Canadian Provence of Quebec. Artisan definitely would hold its own in France or Quebec. This is a truly special restaurant Houston has to offer. I recommend the tasting menu with wine pairing. Each course is as good as the last. It makes it difficult to pick a favorite... More

Busy Friday night but server let us chill at the table and get to know each other over complimentary foie gras bites and then our appetizer or escargot (both very tasty). We both ordered a fish dish that were very tasty. The dessert trio of flavored crime brûlée was yummy too. Tables are close together so we shared conversation with... More

This is one of my favorite spots in Houston. The food is creative, full of flavor and overall amazing. It is nice to have a place where you can have a conversation over dinner and actually be able to hear! My most recent visit was for a large business dinner. The location and space is excellent. The room was very... More

If you are going to a play in downtown Houston, Artista is a very good place to go, since adjoins the theater. Try it and you will like it

The food here is mostly good, just not great in my opinion. The service was actually the highlight, with friendly, attentive, knowledgeable wait staff and a very friendly chef. I found the wine selection good with generous pour, but pricey by the glass($12 to $15 ). I started with a goat cheese and beet tartin, topped with baby arugula. The... More

Having graduated with a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management several years ago, my Restaurant Layout & Design class had the privilege of touring this restaurant as it was being built; getting a chance to talk with Jacques Fox and his staff about vision, goals, standards and expectations. It was a neat opportunity to see the restaurant being built, and... More

The service is outstanding! Each table has 2 or more staff to provide whatever is needed. The seafood dishes are well prepared with great sides. Wine selection is above par. Desserts offered cover a wide range of tastes. The prices are a bit high, but given the location they are justifiable. Enjoy a fine meal.
