Amazing, consistently

I went for my birthday in April and I've been once a week ever since. Well, I didn't go last week because I broke a filling. Service is southern: they are hospitable and they offer tastings all the time (COMP) and there is never an empty plate of glass on your table for more than 5 min (it's more... read more

One of the best restaurants in Houston. If you ask and give guidelines, I don't eat shell fish, they will just keep bringing dishes of food until you tell them to stop.

Was in Houston on a business trip and lacking any solid recommendations on food. Heard of Uchi from a friend, and it was truly one of the best meals I've ever had. To call it sushi does it a disservice as the "sushi" dishes are deconstructed and served with complimentary flavors and textures. Sat at the wine bar which was... More

Went there last night and food was excellent and will definitely go back. The service was a bit slow and not coordinated but they made up for it by bringing me a free dish of food. Ambience is good also If you are in Houston you need to visit Uchi

"Sushi" doesn't really describe Uchi's menu. Many unique flavors, some cooked, some raw, some cooked by you on hot stones. It's a great place for a group, especially one with an adventurous palate. Our favorites were the meat and fish that you cook on the hot stones.

I've been to Uchi a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I always tend to go with the Chef's Recommendation set meal as you can guarantee trying several new and exciting dishes on each visit. We ate as a group on a Friday night. We booked ahead and were lucky to get a table. It was... More

I was so incredibly excited to try Uchi for the first time for my 25th birthday tonight. My experience did not disappoint. I do have to admit that unfortunately, at times, our waiter seemed to disappear for long periods but we quickly figured out pretty much any waiter in the joint was willing to take our order if we waived... Uchi is a great Japanese food restaurant, with innovative dishes and a listing of "sources" of all their fish. Especially fine were the smoked yellowtail macho cure, maguro sashimi and goat cheese, ebi tempura, flounder sashimi, suzuki (stripped bass) sashimi. In the less traditional realm tempura onion rings, brie ringo, and kamo (duck) curry in a Thai style. Nice serving... More
