We have been going through Giddings, TX for years & have never stopped at the City Meat Market. We have been missing out. Now, its a required stop for me. Really terrific Q and sides. Their beans are hot & spicy and flat out great. As a huge Q lover, this place is right at the top of my list.... More

My husband and I stopped in for our 1st BBQ breakfast one morning on our way to Houston. They hadn't run out of anything. We loved the this rustic, throwback to the 50's place with an informality that had the pit master sitting down with us as we sampled some of all the meats. While we enjoyed the "cue", he... More

BBQ was the best we have had in years! Good BBQ that is cooked to perfection is hard to find! We will definitely be making this a regular stop!

I been going to this meat market all my life. They have the best BBQ ever!! The folks that run it are family and have owned it for many years. Lyle Lovett eats there!!

This place is worth visiting for the "cue" as well as the wonderful building it is located in. It's been around for a long time and the walls show the accumulated smoke. Great experience.

Salt. Pepper. Smoke. Nothing fancy about it but some of the best I have ever had. No sauce needed but really good sauce here. Worth a trip.

While visiting antique dealer buddies set up near Roundtop Texas I went on a "pilgrimage" on Saturday morning to Lexington & Giddings with a Louisiana dealer. This was our second stop. ( see related review of Snow's). There were no lines at 9:30 am and a few folks at tables. Housed in an old building with" character" not ambiance. But... More

I've heard about this place, read about it, and drove by more than once but today I stopped and I'll have to say I'll be back. I really likes the ribs, very tasty. The sausage had a great flavor with course meat and not loaded with fat. Had a nice snap to it. Really like the sausage. Good sauce. I... More

Sunday this BBQ joint is closed. So! On our return trip to North Texas, after driving five hours from Corpus Christi to Giddings, TX, we stopped as planned to have lunch at the City Meat Market. While waiting in line at around 1:15 P.M. on Wednesday afternoon. They announced that they were out of everything, but sausage. At that point,... More

The ribs had a great rub, peppery but not too spicy. The brisket wasn't as tender as one might expect. The sauce is on the vinegary side, good if you like it that way. Ambiance is old run down meat market, but the four sheriffs' deputies sitting around telling stories about their patrol stops tells you it's a local favorite.
