The sausage is different. A courser texture than usual, and yummy! I asked, and they make it out of a mixture of pork and beef. I'd stop again just for the sausage.

The owner of the fantastic Farmers Market in Brenham, TX suggested City Meat Market as a "must stop" on our trip to Austin. It was exactly as she described: excellent BBQ where you go to the pit to order, it's nothing fancy and really smoky but a great experience. The place is a mess inside, smoke from the pits fills... When traveling US290 from Houston to Austin be sure to try this rustic place in downtown Giddings where the post oak coals give the best flavor to brisket, ribs, chicken, and homemade sausage that can be found in Texas. Be prepared to stand in line and be served on brown paper without any frills.

Well smoked meats, and sausage, bought by the pound and delivered on butcher paper for your enjoyment. No frills but good meats in a typical old Texas meat market. Get there before noon or they'll be out of some foods. Good value for the money!

I you like really good BBQ served on butcher paper, this would be the place for you. My wife likes a little more formal setting but hay this is a BBQ joint get over it. The earlier the better as far as choices goes. Always seem to have sausage. Try it out, very causal.

A bit scary as you walk in this place....almost turn around and walk away. If you stay you will have the barbeque that is what the reviews are talking about. But as everyone says...get there early or be willing to take what is left after the crowd..but even that is worth a few hours drive to get there. It is... More

After 6 decades of traveling around the world I have found the best Bar B Que in a very small town between Houston and Austin Texas. We have tried many times to catch this place open but never had any luck until recently. We were so excited and now realize why they don't stay open late. They sell out early and were out of brisket when we arrived. He suggested we try his ribs so we did. Wow, happy happy happy find!!! The ribs were cooked... More

After driving by this place for years, I decided to stop in. Hole in the wall kind of place. You walk into the smoker room, tell them what you want, they weigh it up, wrap up your dinner in butcher paper and off to a folding table you go to dig into extremely good BBQ. The sausage was my favorite.... More

After driving past this place many times I finally got to eat lunch here with my daughter. (The first time with my wife they were already sold out at 2 pm.) We split an order of pork ribs and brisket. The brisket had an excellent flavor but it was a bit fatty and overdone. The pork ribs were delicious. The... More
