Best ice cream we've eaten in a long time

This shop was really unique. We went twice during our 4 day visit to Galveston. It was like stepping back in time. The ice cream was home made and well, creamy, and we sat at a little indoor table while we ate. Although we didn't try any of the candy, it was fun to look at the huge variety... read more

So many choices of ice cream. The candy has candy from my childhood, and it brings back so many good memories.

If you have not been to this store you need to. Every time we are in the neighborhood I take my Wife. They have coffee, ice cream, chocolates, and even still make taffy in front of customers! Unique and fun place to visit.

I live on the Island and no holiday is complete without going to La Kings. From Saint Valentine's day to Mardi Gras and Easter to Christmas La Kings is a flash back to what I imagine is the perfect holiday. My wife can not enter the confectionary with out leaving with a bag of salt water taffy. The fist time... More

They have every sweet you can possibly think of and more. The servers were all very nice and their outfits are super nostalgic. We enjoyed not only candy but malts made at the sods fountain (one regular is enough for two people) and watching the taffy demonstration. Highly recommend visiting with kids or for the kid at heart.

Yum! Yum! Yum! Do not miss this custard and candy treat! Check the daily schedule and you may get to watch taffy being made on the 100+ year old taffy pulling machine and candy wrapping machine. Heads-up! Candy will be thrown to you at the end of the show! Like ice cream? You'll LOVE the extra-creamy custard. So many flavor... More

This place was very good. I loved their chocolate covered banana! My sister had their hot chocolate. She is pretty picky, but loved it as well.

My friend and I stopped in after having lunch elsewhere and walking the strand for a while. The 'old' building has the atmosphere of the corner drug stores I remember when I visited my grandmother in the 50s and 60s. It was very clean, well stocked, lighting was optimal, lots of staff to assist your every question. If you would... More

Visited this place in December with 2 nephews and it lives up to my memories! I grew up in Galveston and remember loving this place for the taffy pulling when the guy manning the machine would throw out free taffy to onlookers. This tradition has not changed and we managed to stumble in just when they were starting to throw... More

La King's is a must see on the Strand in Galveston, Texas. They make their own candy and ice cream and it is truly a unique experience. There are very few places even remotely similar to La King's. Go and experience it in the Victorian building and savor not only the delicacies but also the ambiance.
