We visited La King's while walking on the Strand during a visit to Galveston a few weeks ago with our children. It was blazing hot that day and I was delighted to see the La King store front while visiting the Strand. We promptly made our way in there and to the delight of my children, there was candy, chocolates,... More

Whether you like chocolate, candy, fudge, ice cream or malts, they have it all here. We loved stepping into the shop and feeling like we were stepping back in time. The ice cream was super good and the chocolate cheery malt was excellent. This made for a great midday stop before continuing our meandering around The Strand.

This confectionery sells ice cream, soda fountain drinks, milkshakes, and a wide variety of candy, fudge, caramels, chocolates, and truffles. It also has taffy-making demonstrations. I had strawberry ice cream, which was pretty good but very sweet. My husband had the cookies & cream milkshake. He said it didn't have a lot of flavor. The food was kind of pricey.... More

We were told not to miss La Kings, by one of the locals. Good call! An old fashioned soda fountain, with home made soda, hand dipped ice cream and tons of candy, a lot of which is home made. We were lucky enough to be there when the master candy maker was making salt water taffy using the antique puller... More

We stumbled into La Kings after strolling the Strand without any knowledge of this incredible find! The best ice cream we have ever had and we found so many great gifts here to take back to family, special candy we've never seen, homemade fudge, and incredible salt water taffy!! We went here twice on a three day visit! La Kings... More

This location was crowded on a Saturday but a great escape from the heat! We had a lot of fun watching them pull taffy and their iced coffee bar hit the spot!

Extra creamy ice cream. Kids loved the candy making show and samples. Definitely a must visit if on the strand with family.

I always enjoy visiting La King's. It's the atmosphere that I love mostly; yet, they do have very good ice cream. I got the coffee flake this time in a cake cone and it was DE-LISH. If I wasn't so stuffed, then I would have gone back for another. The scoop was a very generous portion. While there, a taffy... More
