Pier and beam wooden floors, old fashioned soda jockeys and a guy making taffy in front of a crowd. Walking into this place is like stepping back in time. If you are in town you have to make time to check this place out. Absolutely loved it.

Just happened to hear someone talk about this place on our first day in town so thought we would check it out. It was almost a madhouse but the service was fast and the workers were polite. We ended up visiting La Kings every day of our trip!!!

Taffy was super hard and ice cream was extremely expensive. Really cute place though, with a huge selection of candy, ice cream flavors, and other sweets!

Take a step back in time with the soda fountain and "pig out" on all the candy and other items. Located on the Strand, it's a must see.

We always take our out of town guests to this place. Great reminder of the hay day of Galveston. Kids and grandparents alike love this place

You must stop by. You can get samples just ask. The chocolate covered potato chips are great! I tried the mint chocolate chip ice cream on a suger cone and it was good. The milk chocolate covered sea salt carmel is excellent as well as the chocolate covered cherries. It is worth stopping by if you have a sweet tooth.... More

Five of us walked the area and our treat for all that exercise was ice cream. Wonderful banana splits, chocolate was yummy, huge choice of ice cream flavors, excellent candy choices, great atmosphere, clean restrooms. Our only complaint was the coffee bar. We waited for 25 minutes for 4 coffee drinks with little apology each time we asked if our... More

When you walk through the front door into this old building you know this is something special. You'll find good espresso coffee drinks, delicious ice cream creations and a candy zone that is really amazing. This is a fun place to visit even if you decide not to indulge. But go ahead....it's all delicious.

This place really is cool. It's a candy shop on one side...complete with live taffy pulling...and an ice cream parlor and coffee shop on the other. Super cute decor. The most wonderful young adults working there! Be sure to ask them what their favorites are because they know what the good stuff is! I would have never thought to try... More
