La King's can always be counted on to have fabulous ice cream sundaes and sodas. The candy selection is diverse. There is something for all sweets enthusiasts at La King's.

La King's is an historic sweetshop that is well worth one visit if you are of a certain age and can remember (or can remember your parents talking about) visiting the soda fountain or the ice cream parlor. At the end of the day, though, there isn't much that is terribly special about it beyond the ambiance. You are guaranteed... More

This place is a must visit! I stopped by with my family, and it really looks like a turn of the century candy store! Cakes and ice cream can be had here, as well as traditionally prepared salt water taffy. There's even a soda stand with ice cream shakes. The candies are impressive not only in quantity, but in variety.... More

I've gone to La Kings every time I've come down to the island and always loved it. We always buy chocolate malts (great) and some candy. Today, I was in the mood for some fudge. I asked the clerk if it was fresh and she assured me it was, so I bought a half pound. I should have been suspicious... More

Yep, pretty sure this should be La King's theme song, especially if Saltwater Taffy and hand dipped ice cream could be added to the lyrics. If your at the Strand, you need to make your way down here. The milkshakes are to die for and the saltwater taffy is made fresh in the store (if you catch it at the... More

My husband and children visited La King's on Saturday night, 09/06/14. I tried the strawberry cheesecake ice cream, my daughter tried the vanilla ice cream, and my other daughter tried a few varieties of candy. The ice cream was quite good, and my kids enjoyed the candy as well. However, I cannot say for sure whether the ice cream and... More

Very busy place with a bus load of kids getting ice cream cones. Good ice cream and lots of candy and taffy. Peanut butter taffy, banana, and molasses taffy was good. $3.50 per scoop of ice cream. French vanilla was good.

Nice old fashion soda shop with a large supply of candy and chocolate. Did not try the ice cream only picked up some taffy this trip. The taffy was very good and worth going there for that alone. If you have a sweet tooth this is the place for you while in Galveston. This place is more of a attraction... More

I have gone to La King's every visit to Galveston since I was a little girl. It's a trip back in time that everyone should experience. The salt water taffy is fluffy and delicious. The ice cream is homemade and incredible. Try the rocky road!

The ice cream was so good, there was a group of about 12 little girls and their mothers ahead of us in line which worried me about how long it would take but the servers were very well organized and the group was handled by one staff while the other staff served the rest of the line so the service...
