In-house and commercially-made candies and an antique (and still working) taffy-pulling machine in this shop; they post demonstration times, and the taffy's yummy. There's also a soda fountain where you can order all kinds of ice cream treats, including house-made sodas. It's yummy and fun, and yeah, you can spend a lot of money in there if you let yourself,... This is such a cute place located on the Strand. The taffy is divine!! Sometimes if you are lucky they will be making it fresh and hand out pieces to customers. The ice cream is delicious as well...actually you can't go wrong with all the great treats they have to offer. Something for everyone. Sometimes it does get quite crowded...try... More

Who knew that a root beer shake could be so good?? I reluctantly tasted it when my daughter ordered one; it was delicious!! My son's cherry shake was very good, too. I ordered chocolate covered almonds and malt balls. They were wonderful! I just couldn't resist. If you're ever on The Strand, make sure to visit La King's. It's pricey,... More

My wife and I split an ice cream sundae and our kids enjoyed little squares of fudge. The sundae was very good and the perfect balance of deliciousness, and the fudge was quite tasty as well.

We needed a place to have dessert after dinner and we picked the best place in Galveston! The setting is an old fashioned ice cream parlor complete with a taffy pull and working antique ride on horse! A few people have made the comment that it is expensive, but I didn't find it to be anymore than Basking Robbins, Cold... More

Pier and beam wooden floors, old fashioned soda jockeys and a guy making taffy in front of a crowd. Walking into this place is like stepping back in time. If you are in town you have to make time to check this place out. Absolutely loved it.

Just happened to hear someone talk about this place on our first day in town so thought we would check it out. It was almost a madhouse but the service was fast and the workers were polite. We ended up visiting La Kings every day of our trip!!!

Taffy was super hard and ice cream was extremely expensive. Really cute place though, with a huge selection of candy, ice cream flavors, and other sweets!

Take a step back in time with the soda fountain and "pig out" on all the candy and other items. Located on the Strand, it's a must see.
