This is by far the best place to get candy and milkshakes on the island. They have a wide selection of ice cream, milkshakes and home made chocolates and candies.

Anyone will enjoy a stop for something sweet or a coffee here. Your teeth ache as you walk in the door...taffy, cases filled with candies, ice cream and more! We had a scoop of their ice cream and it was WONDERFUL! Kids will love it and the building and interior are original. Notice the steps you have to climb as... More

We love ending our days in Galveston by visiting La King's! No where can you get a Root Beer or Coke Float like what they have! And the candy......!!! Our grandkids go wild! We just like looking at some of the "old tyme" candy from our childhood! Brings back such memories!

This is a must for an ice cream soda or sundae while watching the candy being made right in front of you. On taffy day be ready to catch a piece of fresh, pulled, cut and wrapped taffy as the baker throws it to the watchers as he works. I always walk out with a bag of delicious candy which... More

Half candy shop, half ice cream parlor! Great big banana split, yum! All sorts of candy, including the old fashioned penny candy. We always bring our out of town guests here and everyone loves it. It's big, colorful and beautiful. A real happy place.

The hubby and I stopped by this little old time confectionery. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the chocolate malt we split. It was great, probably a place I won't rush back to, but good for a nostalgic trip back in time.

La King's is an historic sweetshop that is well worth one visit if you are of a certain age and can remember (or can remember your parents talking about) visiting the soda fountain or the ice cream parlor. At the end of the day, though, there isn't much that is terribly special about it beyond the ambiance. You are guaranteed... More

This place is a must visit! I stopped by with my family, and it really looks like a turn of the century candy store! Cakes and ice cream can be had here, as well as traditionally prepared salt water taffy. There's even a soda stand with ice cream shakes. The candies are impressive not only in quantity, but in variety.... More
