We live very close to Galveston and visit a few times a month. The Original is a regular stop for us. My husband loves their salsa. Beware as it is spicy, but nothing a margarita cannot fix and the Original has a great variety to choose from. The Pink Diamond frozen margaritas are the best! The food is very good,... More

The Original Mexican Cafe is where the locals go. Service is outstanding, quality of food great and the price is right. Make sure you go hungry as the portions are good sized. It has been a part of Galveston for a very very long time. You will enjoy it.

We have been fishing and vacationing down here for years and never tried eating here. I'm glad we found it. It's off the beaten path but easy to find. If you're looking for Tex-Mex this is the place. The food was great and the service was awesome. Our waiter was very friendly attentive. We will definitely be coming back.

Found this place about 5 years ago, even though it's been here for over 100 years. Great food, great service. Very close to the Strand/dowtown historic district. Perfect margaritas! Good prices! Perfect tex/mex food!

I chose this restaurant because of the good reviews I'd read on TripAdvisor and it was worth going a little bit out of the way; away from the beach. Great value and tasty Mexican food. The margaritas were cold and refreshing on a hot day! Service was great; restaurant was nicely decorated, and menu offered an impressive variety all at... More

Sat at the bar and got a beer quickly, but took a while to get what was nothing more than a shrimp cocktail. The food was not as spicy as I would like, but I guess it is what it is.

The food is quite good here, fresh and plentiful; I especially liked the pork enchiladas and Cancun fajitas, but the best reason to come here is for the specialty drinks. The Pink Diamond is sweet but wonderfully refreshing after a day on the beach!

We went to the Original on a busy Friday night , we usually go during the week. What a difference in service and quality. The place was packed . The usually excellent margarita was warm, I had to use ice from my water glass to give it a chill. I saw the bartender pour it from a massive container pre... More

My apologies for your experience... We've been blessed to have had an increase in business, in doing so, we've had to train new employees during our busiest time of year. I promise to get everything back to how you remember. Thank you again for your feedback. More
