My daughter and I went to Gaidos the first time since Hurricane Ike after eating there for over 20 years. The Gumbo was AWFUL, the Oysters were the size of a Quarter and overcooked, the shrimp were small and overcooked, the Catfish Filet was too thin and overcooked. The food quality is so bad I will not return....20+ year customers... more

This was our first visit to Galveston and Gaido's. The bar staff and our waiter, Ryan, were top notch, however, the meltdown came from the kitchen, literally. The shrimp cocktail ($9.00) was unbelievably small, given the coastal location - not much larger than a minnow. We might see double that size in our home country - Canada. My husband waited... more

We went to Gaido's in July (2009). We were seated promptly. We really enjoyed it. The wait staff was very helpful and informative. Great food, drinks, and service! We'd gladly return again. more

My husband wanted to eat at Gaido's. I had not been overwhelmed by the food the last time I ate there and my opinion has not changed. Our waiter was wonderful but he has been working there for many years. There are other restuarants that have spectacular food (e.g. Lecroys Bistro on the Strand) at much more reasonable prices. My... more

We arrived at Gaidos(11/14/09) party of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids and where seated right away. My son's had gotten down there nintendo ds to keep them busy while we wait on the food. Waitress Sharon was very cordial, food came out soon after we ordered. I ordered the pasta with lump crab, I came across some shells in... more

We have dined at this restaurant however have not been in the area since the last hurricane and flooding. Even though there were thousands of bikers attending a Galveston rally we were seated immediately upon arrival. The service was excellent. We had the full entree items and wished after we had opted for the complete dinner selection which gives one... more

We were in Galveston for one night and drove the “strip” trying to decide where to eat. We finally decided on Gaidos because of all the advertising of how long they have been in business and how fresh the food is. We were a little surprised when we walked in and saw the prices on the menu (the signs and... more

Our family has been going to Gaido's for 5+ years. Last weekend we went to Gaido's, as a family, and brought family friends with us. We were seated rather quickly and the drinks from the bar were excellent. Our waiter came over sweating bullets and he proceeded to take our drink order. We ordered a bottle of white wine for... more

Great historic restaurant (in business 99 years) with wonderful food. We arrived just a few minutes before closing and they seated and served us with no problem. Everything we ate was wonderful. Waiter (Keith) was phenomenal and made excellent recommendations. As it was late, we ordered the half-portion plates and it was plenty of food at a very reasonable price. more

We have been to Gaido's for many, many years. It used to the the standard by which all the rest were measured but not so any more. I have been at least 4 or 5 times in the past 3 years and each time has been worse than the time before. I kept thinking we were hitting it on a... more
