Dinner at Saltwater

I went to the saltwater for an early dinner. I had the ribeye special and gumbo. The food was excellent and the prices were reasonable. Very good service. This place is a straight shot from the hotel galvez where we were staying. I will eat here again if ever in galveston again.

Gourmet food reasonably priced. Service absolutely excellent. Our waiter Travis gave us excellent recommendations since this was our first visit. Service and atmosphere excellent also. Do not , I repeat, DO NOT pass up an opportunity to eat at the Saltwater Grill in Galveston. We've been on the road 11 days through four states, including three days in New Orleans... More

Ordered seafood gumbo which came in a HUGE bowl. Enough to fill up most people. Also ordered coconut crusted salmon which was plated beautifully over bright colorful veggies. Good service but really wanted a Guiness draught to go with but no draught beer whatsoever. Bottled only.

We went after a show at the Grand Opera house. Had to wait a bit for a table, apparently they were short staffed that night and didn't want to seat anyone they couldn't serve promptly. The bar was cozy and they had good draft beer. Once seated, we had attentive service and an excellent meal. The Lobster risotto was just... More

To be honest it was not our 1st choice but that was closed so this came in 2nd and we were not disappointed. Decor and atmosphere was nothing special but their food more than made up for that. We all had different plates and shared and none of us were disappointed.

We come here often when we are going to a performance at the Grand Opera House right across the street. Parking is next door or close by. Excellent varied menu with seafood, pasta, and steaks. We have enjoyed everything we have tried. Service is good and attentive. Can be noisy when full. Recommend reservations.

Their shrimp and lobster taco with soup for lunch was just out of this world. It is worth a trip to the Strand just for this. The service was just over the top. Byron is all ways smiling and knows the menu. If you do go try and sit at one of his tables, I guarentee you will not be... More

This is not your super elegant fine dining - it is a busy and nosy place full of life. Our food was good - not outstanding - and we had to wait for 40 min for a soup - not a great touch if you ask me.

Some set claim that part of saffron's magic is its ability to stimulate libido or erogenous zones. Scientific or simply subjective, its seductiveness has evidently flirted its way into the kitchen of the Saltwater Grill in downtown Galveston Island. Located opposite the town's opera house, amid rows of gritty warehouses and weathered Victorian villas, the Saltwater Grill is nothing less... More

Although it is a little pricey the food is always excellent. The décor is charming and the wait staff is available and professional. We always enjoy it.
