This place has a lot of history, both hurricane and civil rights history. An institution for years, it is well worth a visit. The blt is so good, as is their unique tomato soup. The staff is great! We visit every time we're in Galveston, at least once.

My wife and I had this place suggested to us. We both remember when we used to go to the soda fountain when we were young and get root beer floats. The atmosphere was just like an old time soda fountain. There were also tables inside and out, but we chose to sit at the counter. We shared a grilled... More

Quality of food and atmosphere are important to me and Star Drug had both. I loved the outdoor seating in the beautiful March weather. There is indoor and counter seating. It wasn't too crowded or noisy (it was Mardi Gras and there was a cruise ship in port.) The food was wonderful; almost a surprise. I ordered french toast and... More

There were only 3 people in the place and the service was very slow. Waitress was amazing and friendly and could only serve what was prepared. The cooks hung out in the back room a lot and took forever to get my hamburger. Burger was huge, okay. It came with a pasta salad, no flavor and dry. Not worth a... More

Ordered a basic American breakfast with eggs, bacon, toast and grits. They were very busy, but the order didn't take that long. Staff was friendly.

The breakfast is very good, large portions and just plain food with no frills. History of this old building is fascinating. Worth the visit.

Went here for brunch with friends and family. Plates contained canned fruit and frozen potatoes. Wife ordered curry chicken salad that was good. Pancakes had no flavor and menu choice was small. Coffee in general was weak with no flavor. Ambience was neat and there were vintage type items for sale. Maybe it was what we ordered as the place... More

We stopped in for breakfast and were delighted with the history of the place. Worth stopping in just to have a look. Tables are inside and out. Best BLT I ever had. Pancakes really good too. Nice staff and have a look at the signage showing the waterline from the hurricane in 2008. What an amazing recovery!
