After overseeing the bats fly-out from the tunel in the State Park next door, we walked over to this TX burger joint for great burgers, steaks and onion rings. Friendly and accomodating staff. Self serve beer, wine and soft-drinks added to special feel. The CW singer in the corner was actually quite good as well! However, the building itself would... More

We went as guests with our son-in-law and daughter. They like hole-in-the-wall places and with this visit to the Alamo Springs Cafe, our interest in them is heightened considerably! This place truly did have one of if not the very best burgers I've ever had. The onion rings and crusty fries were also great and the prices were reasonable. You... More

We made the drive out to the cafe and were seated fairly quickly. That is where the quick ended. All drinks are self-serve, but there was no tea (sweet nor unsweet) and the staff was not very responsive to getting some made. I had a beer instead, which could have been colder. The cool part is that you save your... More

The Alamo Springs General Store and Cafe is sort of "off the beaten trail". It was a twenty mile drive to get there, but this place is a "one in a million experience". After eating their signature burger on their signature bun, I would walk the twenty miles to get there! Do not be dissuaded by the initial appearance....you are... More

An acquaintance told me about a great burger place out in the middle of the Texas Hill Country. Being a sucker for a great burger and since I happened to be going in the right direction a few days later.......I fired up the GPS and cruised through the Hill Country to The Alamo Springs Cafe. Now, if you are looking... More

Went here after viewing the bats and Old Tunnel State Park as they are close together. Fun place. Excellent servers. It's a lot of food so plan on sharing. We ordered the onion rings and gave over half to the table next to us. It was hopping all night and the food is why. It is in the middle of... More

We ate inside as no one was serving outside that was a mistake. when leaving we felt greasy from the fryers, the food was really good our service was impeccable but the grease, we had to put our clothes on the back porch to air out when we got back to the ed and breakfast and take a shower.

Service suffered getting caught in the rush before the bats emerged from Tunnel park just below the restaurant (great combining the two). The burger was almost like a giant meatball, but very good. Loved the homemade chips, and ate the leftovers back at our B&B until I could eat no more. Fun place. Would go back - - and we... More

My wife and I ate here on 09-31-14. We had intended to eat breakfast but got there around 11:30 A.M. This place is a classic and worth going to. I ordered a cheeseburger with mushrooms, bacon, and green chilies along with onion rings. I prefer the thinner ones but these were delicious. The burger was about a 20 napkin one.... More

I'm a glutton for punishment because the food is to die for. It's a bit of a drive from town and there's always a long wait. There is no comfortable place to wait. It's hot and there's no extra air conditioned space. This time we called ahead because we had a large party (of ten) and they had a table... More
