Decent meal but not worth the money

Went to this restaurant with my husband and another couple. Husband ordered some type of game deer steak and said it was good. I had the fliet mignon. Food was good but not great. This was a special occasion dinner in Fredericksburg, as we had driven here for a Birthday weekend of eating, wine tasting and shopping. We had reservations, so were seated quickly. Our server Elizabeth provided us with very good service and we enjoyed the atmosphere and food. I started with French Onion Soup $11, then the Fish Du Jour $37. My... More

After hearing from friends about August E's I wanted to try it for myself. The atmosphere can be elegant or casual. This was important because I find myself dining solo and it is not my favorite thing to do. August E's is friendly and inviting. I felt like I was part of a family. Owners Dawn and Lou made sure... With reservations, we were seated promptly. Nice, chic looking restaurant. Hubby and I ordered the filet and had wine. Biggest problem was getting a refill on water. Finally, after NEVER getting one refill on an empty water glass, we ordered tea so that we could have something to drink! Halfway through the meal we received our tea and then later... More

August E's is one of the best restaurants in the Hill Country. They have an excellent selection of wine and an exceptional full bar. The food is prepared with a combination of fresh ingredients and a culinary flair. Recently, my wife and I enjoyed pre-dinner cocktails, fresh green salads, steaks, asparagus, wine and dessert. All were prepared to perfection and... More

I can't state enough how amazing the food Chef Leu Savanh puts out at this Texas casual fine dining restaurant August E's!! I have been here multiple times and he always seems to one up himself. His flair for mixing elegant Texas fair with Thai influences is a fresh take that makes me come back time and time again. From... More

Drove over to Fredericksburg from Austin to meet up with a new friend I'd made on a recent trip to Oaxaca, and to see my daughter who does some part time work for August E's. My new friend (who works at the excellent winery 4.0) and I were decked out in our Mexican finery recently acquired on our trip (this... More

We frequently dine at August E's with friends and family. We enjoy the flexibility of grabbing a cocktail and appetizer from the bar or meeting friends there to sit down and an entrée. We have enjoyed just about everything on the menu and cannot name one item that wasn't delicious and well prepared. The owners are fantastic, the wait staff... More
