My boyfriend and I ate dinner here at the recommendation of someone and frankly just not what we were expecting in Hill Country. The prices were outrageous, the waiter we had was terrible, the food taste was just ok. My boyfriend ordered the lamb and the waiter should have told us that it would take almost an hour for it... The reviews I had heard most certainly puzzled me. I wasn't sure what to think. Hearing more bad then good about this place made my attention for restaurants lead elsewhere. who knew, I was missing out. As we walked in the dining room wasn't to full: the bar was another story. It was jam packed! Since the bar was full... More

Just returned fro a most disappointing evening at August E. The spring mix, pistachio, dried cherry salad was good, but the entree, soft shell crab from the Thai night menu, was a disaster. Menu description read," tempura fried soft shell crab topped with peanut sauce." Preparation was anything but tempura. It was fried so crispy that it was difficult to... More

Hi Southtexasgirl, I am sorry your experience this evening was not on par with the other times you've dined with us. I do hope you try us again, since as you said, you've had "many wonderful experiences here in the past." This one evening was the exemption, not the rule. We really value our local cliental, and appreciate your comments.... More

We love taking out of area friends here. Everything from the bread starters to the desert is wonderful . My only suggestion would be that they expand their bar selection..,,they did do have Rebecca Creek Or TX whiskey. A craft gin like Cascade or Uncle Val's would be nice too

Mother's day treat was our goal for this visit. It met all of our expectations. Food and service was very good. It had a sushi bar available as well. Huge wine list. Atmosphere just average and somewhat subdued....not memorable. They acutally moved from a very cozy spot about six miles down the road in Stonewall that was very nice. We... More

August E's catered our wedding dinner at the Hoffman Haus last month and the food was amazing! We went with the Texas Gaucho Carving Station meal and weeks later guests are still raving about the venison crepes, the meats, the yummy homemade sauces, and the five cheese mac and cheese. Dawn and her staff were amazing to work with and... More

Great space. Surprising good food. Casual, yet elegant. Try the stacked crab and avocado for a starter. Yum. Perfectly cooked halibut with a well made risotto. I have two issues. First, the over eager wait staff cleared plates too quickly. Let everyone finish before grabbing the empty plates. It makes everyone else feel rushed. Particularly true when you don't have... More

I was not a sushi person until I sat down at the Sushi bar and had a wonderful lesson by the folks at August E's. Beautiful restaurant - lovely food - the staff is delightful!
