As they were cutting the brisket, thought to myself, " it looks moist and yummy". As they were slicing the sausage I thought to myself, " starting to look promising." We sit down to eat with some potato salad that was ok, and bland brisket that was dry in certain parts of the cut, no smoke flavor to it at... More

They only do lunch. We got there early so we did not have to wait long in the line. Absolutely some of the best barbeque we've ever had! No need to say more.

On our way from the coast to the panhandle, we stopped for a take-out at bbq joint on the outskirts of Fredericksburg. I wanted to try their brisket and also wanted a sandwich for later. We tried a sliced brisket and a chopped brisket apiece. I sent my wife in the restaurant with a $20 bill and she came back... More

Texas BBQ is very competitive. This place was as good as it gets. They are ONLY open for lunch so plan accordingly. You will probably have to wait in line but spend the time reading the menu. Totally fun! "Sandwich. Your choice of meat strategically placed between a top and bottom bun." LOL! We will definitely make this one of... More

Hard to find really good BBQ but Cranky Frank is just mmm good. Marbled brisket with charred ends was delicious. Generous portion of BBQ on the sandwich plate. It is a bit pricey but worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and get the REAL taste of authentic BBQ from CK.

We drove from Austin to try Cranky Franks. Well worth it. Texas Monthly got another one right. The brisket was very moist and flavorful. The ribs were tender and juicy. They also have a ton of awesome sides. Try this place. Today. Now.

We visited Cranky Frank's after a long morning hike up Enchanted Rock and it was amazing!! Their marbel brisket was seasoned perfectly and had just the right char. Their ribs literally fell off the bone and were sooo juicy. Both sauces were great - try them both! We ate outside on the patio and it was very relaxing. A must-stop... More

Pricey but very good Texas Hill Country Bar-B-Que! It is off Main St. but worth the short drive. Enjoy!

This little place served the best brisket my brisket-loving family has ever had and the pinto beans were sublime. (That's a recipe I will go home and try to crack!)

While this was not top notch BBQ, I would recommend it to anyone visiting Fredericksburg with a hankering for good old fashion pit BBQ. Good food and service.
