Great German Food

Small restaurant in historic building right on Main Street (Highway 290) in Fredericksburg Texas. Everything I tasted was fresh and tasty and some of the best German cuisine I have had in Texas. I have eaten 2 meals here in the last week and tasted my friend's curry. Her dish had pineapple with... read more

I got two recommendations for a classic German restaurant and this was it. The food was good, in a general sort of way, but, it was not very good German food. It was all very Mild. German food uses a lot of vinegar in dishes like red cabbage, German potato salad and Sauerbraten to make them tangy and flavorful. I... More

Cozy, homey restaurant serving German entrees, desserts & beers (or your wine if celebrating) in a historic limestone building. A little German flair, cafe-esque. Nothing fancy. Our waitress was actually German, so that was fun!!

This, by far, is the best German Food restaurant in Fredericksburg, Texas. I have eaten at least three separate times here. I have tried different dishes and all were very good. The schnitzels, potato salad and kraut are excellent. My wife ordered a dish that was a breaded pork with bell peppers and sauce and it was to die for.... More

I do not care for German food but was with a group that wanted to eat here. The service was good and friendly. The food actually was pretty good but there weren't a lot of choices on the menu-very limited and all German entrees. Beer and wine also available.

I was so excited to eat at an authentic German restaurant in Fredericksburg. However, I was very disappointed with the quality and tasted of the food. I had lunch at the restaurant before heading out on a wine tour. I ordered the beef stew and noodles and my husband ordered the bratwurst plate. It didn't take very long for the... More

A nice small town feel and pleasant staff. Food is basic German fare (schnitzels, braten, red cabbage, soup, salad, potato salad) but well done and delicious. Price quite reasonable. No reservations but got in quickly for Friday night at 6 PM.

Ask for Barbara to tell you about the specials. Food is excellent and the pricing is very reasonable. Go early (prior to 6) to get a table without the wait.

I had the jäger schnitzel and it was very good. It's a cute spot too. But, the place has issues. First, they're boycotting veal and to me a traditional schnitzel uses veal. But, I can live with that because the pork version here is very good. But, when it was time to go I was informed they're also boycotting Visa... More

Been to Fredericksburg many times over that last 20 years and witnessed its gradual transformation into the overcrowded "theme park" like place it now is. When visiting during bluebonnet season this year I wanted some authentic German food as usual. Of course, most ethnic food outside of the country of origin is nowhere close to what it should be, but... More
