Good German cooking!

A nice small town feel and pleasant staff. Food is basic German fare (schnitzels, braten, red cabbage, soup, salad, potato salad) but well done and delicious. Price quite reasonable. No reservations but got in quickly for Friday night at 6 PM.

This, by far, is the best German Food restaurant in Fredericksburg, Texas. I have eaten at least three separate times here. I have tried different dishes and all were very good. The schnitzels, potato salad and kraut are excellent. My wife ordered a dish that was a breaded pork with bell peppers and sauce and it was to die for.... More

I do not care for German food but was with a group that wanted to eat here. The service was good and friendly. The food actually was pretty good but there weren't a lot of choices on the menu-very limited and all German entrees. Beer and wine also available.

I was so excited to eat at an authentic German restaurant in Fredericksburg. However, I was very disappointed with the quality and tasted of the food. I had lunch at the restaurant before heading out on a wine tour. I ordered the beef stew and noodles and my husband ordered the bratwurst plate. It didn't take very long for the... More

Ask for Barbara to tell you about the specials. Food is excellent and the pricing is very reasonable. Go early (prior to 6) to get a table without the wait.

I had the jäger schnitzel and it was very good. It's a cute spot too. But, the place has issues. First, they're boycotting veal and to me a traditional schnitzel uses veal. But, I can live with that because the pork version here is very good. But, when it was time to go I was informed they're also boycotting Visa... More

Been to Fredericksburg many times over that last 20 years and witnessed its gradual transformation into the overcrowded "theme park" like place it now is. When visiting during bluebonnet season this year I wanted some authentic German food as usual. Of course, most ethnic food outside of the country of origin is nowhere close to what it should be, but... More

We ate lunch here arriving at 1:15 and getting our check at almost 3:00!! Slow service! We all ordered German Potato Salad which tasted sweet and had no resemblance to the traditional salad I've eaten & prepared all my life. I told our waitress and she told the chef who disagreed with our opinion. All of us have German heritages... More

My wife and I stopped in this famous German restaurant for dinner on a Wednesday night. We had a short wait but the food and the service were worth the wait. Diane was our server and she made some great suggestions. My wife had the Zweibel Schnitzel and I had the Picata Schnitzel. Zweibel has Onions on top. Picata has... More

We were in Fredericksburg on a Sunday evening and many of the local shops and restaurants were closed for the day or had already closed by dinner time (around 6-7:00 p.m.). Der Lindenbaum was open and not crowded - probably because it is tucked away with a basement entrance. The food was good - we had the specials - quail... More
