Stopped in Fredricksberg, Texas on our way to Austin. What a fun town. Just happened to park in front of this place. Sure glad I did. If you like German/Hungarian food drop in here and enjoy. You will not regret it.

We ate here May 26th after driving from Austin on part of a cross country trip. From everything we read, there were many German settlers in the Texas Hill Country and they had greatly influenced the culture. After eating plenty of grits, barbecue and Mexican food as we worked our way West from South Carolina, we were ready for a... More

Auslander was recommended as a moderately priced German Restaurant in Fredericksburg, Texas. It was crowed on a Memorial Day weekend but the staff did a good job of moving the crowd along to the wait for two people was no problem. The menu did not feature all of my favorite German items but it had enough to keep my interest.... More

We came in hoping to embrace the German culture. I read on trip advisor to try the mushrooms...something about the grease at German restaurants just don't taste very good to us. I had a schnitzel...I didn't enjoy it & my husband had a steak and it wasn't very good either. The sangria was good though.

My husband and I dined at the Auslander in the afternoon of May 23, 2015. I hadn't wanted to dine there, having had a bad experience several years ago, but he insisted. Being a festival weekend (Crawfish Festival) the establishment was packed. We were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait for a table, and they would text when... More

I visited Fredericksburg with my two grown children recently, making it a point to be sure and visit an authentic German restaurant. I would not consider Auslander "authentic" and their food had such a Southwestern influence, the German aspect of the food was almost undetectable. The only detectable part was the name of the dish on the menu. And I... More

German food is a must when staying in Fredericksburg. This is my favorite place to get a good German meal. I had the roulade for the second time and it was delicious. My husband is not fond of German food, but enjoyed the pork loin schnitzel.

This is a cozy bar with outdoor seating & a live band. The bartender (Megan) is sweet & fun to talk to. Ordered the half of the fried mushrooms and the were so-so. I wouldn't say the best like the menu says. Great place to stop and refresh.

Ate here for lunch today. My wife ordered the Greek salad. When the waiter brought it out he had to explain it was different than what was on the menu - one change and no garlic toast. The fries I got with my sandwich were cold. Not impressed.
