Intensely German and a true 'inn'

It's a 2-story building with a large restaurant and bar on the ground level, and 6 suites for overnight stays on the top floor. The darkly lit restaurant serves German and American dishes served on pewter platters, very much feeling like a German Rathskeller, while the adjacent bar seems like a... read more

Great German food, attentive service, wonderful atmosphere. Prices were very reasonable. We were referred there by someone local.

As our group of 6 gathered from various places in Texas, we trickled in...1 at a time...ordering separately...not easily manageable for our waitress, but she was wonderful and our 5 Reubens and 1 burger got rave reviews.

This restaurant is the closest to German that I found in Fredericksburg. The Sauerbraten was excellent, as were the spaetzle. Apfelstrudel with ice cream is recommended.

No trip to Fredericksburg would be complete without stopping here for dinner or lunch! Incredible food, good bar, great beer variety, and the best Jaeger schnitzel I've ever had. I've been here over 20 times, and it is always excellent.

Good German food selection and dishes, but still had good "regular food" for the kids. Service was timely and friendly.

The building looked interesting so we thought we would have some lunch. The service was very slow. My husband noted that there were nothing but bald, grey and old people at lunch time (we are sorta in that group). The food was mediocre, at best. The wait staff were all moving very quickly but were accomplishing very little. We waited... More

The waitresses were fantastically friendly. The group coordinator checked with us throughout the entire meal. There was plenty of room for our large group. There was a good variety of German dished from which to choose and the food was good!

My wife really liked her Jaeger schnitzel. A very good appetizer soup. My fried catfish was OK. Overall a good experience. I should try the German food next time.
