Average German food

While the food was average it was good and we had a nice lunch. The menu had American items in addition to German selections.

I should have turned around and left after the rudest hostess ever refused to seat us in an almost empty restaurant... We were meeting friends, but would have liked to have a drink while we waited... Food was mediocre...there is much better food and ambiance in this town!

We just loved this place. I tried German food for the first time. My husband and kids had steak (big chickens!). It was great. The waitress was one of those amazing people who just make everything fun.

Sauerbrauten, weinerschnitzel, red cabbage, sauerkraut, German potato salad, all delicious. German beer and cocktails to boot. What's not to like? Highly recommend if you like superb German food.

The Friedhelms Bavarian Restaurant in Fredericksburg, Texas is located in a very interesting building; it's bar is awe inspiring. Unfortunately, the food and service is far less than inspiring. On our second visit, my wife were amused by the comical, wacky service and the average food. For some reason, you can't find a wienerschnizel here that's not slathered in some... More

Disclaimer, I lived in Germany for several years so I unfortunately had to compare. There is no comparison. The Schnitzel is " ok" compared to the authentic fare in the homeland. Sausage average also. Bread is a little dry and not anywhere as good as bread found in Germany. American type salad was fresh. Creme Brule' was good not the... More

I have been all over the world and have NEVER had German food this horrible! The sauerkraut came out of a can (cooked enough to know) the jaeger schnitzel was terrible!! It may have been an off day for them or their chef didn't know German cuisine but either way I would recommend going to "Wiener schnitzel" for more authentic... More

We ate here on the advice of our friends and hotel desk clerk at Comfort Inn. We were there on a Saturday, so the prime rib was an option. My husband and I opted for it, even though we were in a German restaurant. So glad we did. Although I have learned in the past to stick with the restaurant's... More

I had the Jaeger schnitzel, it was delicious. And it was big enough that I had leftovers for later, just as delicious. The staff is friendly, the service was fine (we were a large party). I think everyone enjoyed their food, I didn't hear any complaints. Just a warm and relaxing place to eat.

It has a Bavarian Beer Hall atmosphere..Beautiful bar. They seemed understaffed. The food was good and met our expectations. We were not in a hurry and had an enjoyable evening. It seemed that the entire town had "Help Wanted" signs.. A possible reason for understaffing. I'd go back.
