Hearty Fare

Good food and lots of it. Smooth service in a popular place. The baked goods were very good. The prices were reasonable.

This was truly one of the best breakfast meals I have ever had. Our group of six ladies ate here all four mornings of our stay in Fredericksburg. The German pancakes were awesome (warning! only order one). The eggs tasted farm fresh, the bacon was just like smoke house bacon, the sausage had to be homemade ~ it tasted nothing... More

We have been to Germany quite a few times and really like real German food. We found it. The Old German Bakery and Restaurant in Fredericksburg, Texas is a real German restaurant that serves real German food. I had the brats with sauerkraut and German fries. The sauerkraut is remarkable. Sauerkraut is sweeter than the traditional American sauerkraut. Very good.... More

We had a wonderful breakfast to start our trip. The cinnamon roll was so good. The potato pancakes are wonderful. We eat here every year.

We used Old German Bakery as a meeting place for our group coming from Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. It was a really good decision! The pastry was OMG fantastic. The apple strudel is not to be missed along with the croissants which are flaky and buttery. Our group had a combination of schnitzel and pancakes - all of which... More

We dined here after doing some morning shopping in Fredericksburg. The place was packed and service was a little slow. The german chicken salad and croussant was excellent - very big portions. The biscuits and gravy were also very good.

This is a gem hidden on Main Street! If you are traveling through or staying the weekend, you need to try their pastries! The German pretzels are the best!

Good coffee. I had Eggs Benedict and it was very good. My wife had a waffle and it was good too. The service was good as well.

Stopped because it was open s we were leaving town and had a wonderful breakfast. Tried the German sausage and eggs (cooked perfectly and so tasty), plus the German pancake which overlapped the plate. Service was attentive, restaurant seemed to draw locals. The Bakery case looked great but we didn't sample anything as we waddled out!
