Best pastries

The apple donut was one of the best things we've eaten maybe all year. SO CRAZY GOOD. All of their pastries are huge and well-priced. I wouldn't recommend the "Mexican" breakfast...of course, I ordered that at a German restaurant. It wasn't bad, just nothing to write home about. But that apple... read more

This place has a great breakfast selection. any type of egg dish and pancakes along with European style breads and pastries. We had the apple strudel to go for desert later and it was amazing! we came back another day to get more. When visiting a local store, Kukuk's nest, the German owners actually recommended that we go there...that lots... More

We stopped at the bakery/restaurant before we went shopping. While we didn't eat, the restaurant was very full and the food looked delicious. Instead we purchased some of their FANTASTIC German cookies. They were flaky and melted in your mouth. They had some icing and pecan pieces on top. They had 3 left we ordered one each, but ended up... More

My first visit several years ago to the Old German Bakery and Restaurant was sort of a disappointment. I really didn't care for the food or the service. So when visiting Fredericksburg since then I have not visited the restaurant. However, this past summer, I was with some of my family and they wanted to eat there. Reluctantly I went... More

the food is delicious and make sure you save room for desert, we had the best chocolate eclair ever! Servings are large, so you may want to consider sharing a meal.

Four of us ate breakfast there this morning. The place was not packed, but almost. We were seated promptly and the service was superb. While we did not eat any of the pastries, one look at them and your mouth would start watering! We had breakfast and all four of our meals were excellent. None of us had any complaints.... More

I had eggs benedict and my husband ordered a sausage patty with his meal. Our meats tasted funky, likely not very fresh. Gets crowded for breakfast. Service is decent.

Main Street in Fredricksburg, TX is a series of old fashioned shops with a distinctly German flair. Old German Bakery and Restaurant is such a shop, with it's great breakfast and lunch menu hanging up in it's large plate glass windows. It's at 225 West Main Street, and one is immediately welcomed upon arrival. We saw a couple enjoying the... More

If you are looking for a good reliable diner to have breakfast in Fredericksburg, then start right here. Breakfast is my favourite meal to eat out, and so I have eaten breakfasts at eateries all around the world - I rate this one as five stars. Lots of locals eat here, the food is good and portions generous, but the... More
