It's worth the drive

Great Home Cooking. Leave the steaks there. My Twenty Five Dollar Fillet was pretty tasteless but the huge slice of meatloaf that my wife and others ordered was excellent! The Quail kebobs also got good reviews and the beer was cold. Don't bother dressing up because this is a good family style... read more

Interesting "country store" atmosphere. It has been here a long time. Food adequate, service good. It isn't fine dining, but you wouldn't expect that. Steaks, sandwiches, salads. Solid 3-star place, maybe 4.....

We were traveling through and stopped for dinner. Waiter was friendly. We order a sampler platter for an appetizer. It was good. We ordered southwest chicken- great; chicken fried steak - ok; chicken fried chicken - good but very bland; ribeye ordered med well- it was burnt so the waiter took it back. We heard the chef tell him, "... More

Came in for dinner mainly because it was the only non-chain restaurant opened past 8pm in town. Steaks were actually very good this time around, service was decent but after reading the reviews it was on pare and what we expected. Beers were cold, nice little bar area to hang out. Glad we stopped

My daughter and I pass by this restaurant frequently on our many shopping trips to Brownwood. This year as part of her birthday gift, I suggested taking her and her spouse out to a steakhouse and after checking out what Brownwood and Abilene had to offer, decided upon Humphrey Pete's and we're so glad that we did. Hesitant at first... More

I have been in and out of here for several years on some of my travels, and sometimes the experience is better than other times. The food is good and the service is average, but on the last trip I was seated next to the kitchen - which is very noisy with all of the yelling that is often heard... More

We stopped here for a quick bite while traveling. We started with an order of fried pickles. Just the right amount of spicy. We split a mushroom burger. Good and juicy. Plenty of food for my husband and I.

I've been coming to Lake Brownwood for years and have passed this place probably a hundred times. But we stopped on a Thursday afternoon around 3:30 for a late lunch. Nice quaint atmosphere, country diner style. Ordered chicken tenders and a chicken fried steak. Basic good food, the tenders were massive, a ton of food. The baked sweet potato side... More

The first time I ate here it was great. Had the CFS and then service was attentive. The second time it was awful, bad service and terrible food. Today I got a Cobb Salad to go. It was Almost decent Lots of iceberg lettuce, plenty of bland chicken and not much flavor in the vinagarette. I asked for crackers and... More
