Excellent BBQ and sides

Fun experience for a post graduation party. Good BBQ, excellent side, and good service. We also had the peach cobbler - very tasty. I recommend the turkey BBQ.

Driving from Austin to San Antonio....made the detour to check out the Salt Lick BBQ. GIGANTIC spread, small line already before opening. The brisket and pork ribs were EXCELLENT. My partner loved loved the sausage too. Side orders (BBQ beans, potato salad and slaw) were not terribly distinguished but who cares, the star of the show was the meat and... More

service, but always a wait. The food is worth the wait. The staff is great. The portions are very filling. They feature two barbeque sauces, one sweet and the other spicy. The standard sides are slaw and potato salad, with bread, onions, and pickles on request. Soft drinks feature free refills. Live music on the weekends.

You've got to go here. It's a short drive from downtown Austin, and the BBQ ribs and the sausage were the absolute best I've ever had, anywhere. Forget Franklin's and the long lines, you can come to Salt Lick where there's plenty of room and plenty to eat! The brisket was also very good and even their cole slaw (vinegar-based)... More

So we are following GPS instructions to get to this place and the drive through the hills was really nice. We are going to eat there on a Friday night which we new would be busy but our schedule only allowed this night to go there. The traffic was pretty thick around 5:30 pm so we thought that we were... Fall off the bone ribs and melt in your mouth brisket. Love the sauce; not too much vinegar and not too sweet. Great, fun atmosphere. When looking for great BBQ, don't miss the Salt Lick. Well worth the drive. The service is also great!

Very simple, they provide the meat, you bring your own brews or wine. I had a taster platter with extra beef rib on the side. The sausage was average (nice kick but nothing more than that) everything else was fantastic. Some of the best BBQ I have ever tasted and the beef rib was so juicy and tender it was... More

Fall off the bone ribs and brisket that melts in your mouth were the highlights of our lunch. Love the atmosphere. It's byob so that s fun as well. Our server brought us a bucket of ice to keep our beer cold. She was very friendly and knowledgable. Will miss this place when we go home.

I usually take family/ friends from out of town here. It is located in the Hill Country.. a little bit of a drive to get out here from Austin but the drive is very pretty. This location has the restaurant and a wine cellar so while waiting for your table, you can grab a glass of wine. Also you can... More

We knew when we arrived and saw almost a hundred cars in the parking lot, we were in for a treat. We waited about an hour and a half and it was worth it. Our friends who have been here before came prepared with folding chairs and a cooler of beer. The dry rub on the ribs is the best... More
