It would be difficult if not impossible to find better barbeque in the whole state of Texas. However, its a pain in the butt to get your bucket of longnecks from a separate counter. Judging from the large number of patrons, I doubt the second generation owner cares.

This place has a good family story but that's as far as it went. There was a big crowd but it was well managed. We had to purchase alcohol from a different building. I was expecting a terrific food experience but it was just average barbeque and meats. It was not worth the drive out there or the price. Great... More

We're from Kansas City and and decided to do a BBQ crawl while on vacation in Texas. Salt Lick is a highly rated very large BBQ restaurant about 35 minutes outside of Austin. The main restaurant is a neat stone building with lots of other seating areas including tables outside. One interesting note is that the smoke the meat over... More

Everything here was delicious and priced reasonably for what you get. The service was great and friendly, make sure you have plenty of room in your stomach! One note - it is BYOB and make sure you bring some beer if you want it! They have a store on site but you are going to pay double the normal amount.... More

Setting caters to large crowds. Several outdoor picnic tables and many more inside. Best time to eat are weekdays, early. The place can have live music on weekends and it will be crowded. Brisket, ribs, sausage, and turkey are your meal choices. Before you choose a meal ask about the amount you get. The best deal is the $22pp family... More

If you like BBQ at all, this is a must. All of the meat is tasty, including the brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken. If you have enough people, the family style is the way to go. My personal favorite are the giant beef ribs, which fall right off the bone. The BBQ sauces are also very tasty, and if you... More

If you crave succulent, smoky bovine brisket or super moist turkey breast or spicy BBQ sausage....this is the place to go to. Very rustic, ranch style setting that sits probably 300 people so you are certain to get a seat at the table. Go the Family Style plate...all you can eat brisket, ribs and sausage for $22. You're on the... More

The BBQ here was superb. Smoky, tender and delicious. If I hadn't had any other BBQ today I would have said this was the best I had ever had.

Our family has eaten here several times over the years and it's always a fun trip and experience. I will say that way back when I was a kid when this place was a lot smaller it was more fun since it was just a little cabin out in the country. Now it's a bit too commercialized for my taste... More
