Awesome Barbecue!

What a great meal! Well worth the drive from Austin. If you not only want Texas barbecue but the feel, it's a not to be missed! Everyone was super friendly. Highly recommend the burnt ends and the blackberry cobbler.

We went with some locals and the accommodations are real country like, rustic, with a down home feel and the BBQ was just as you knew it would be-spot on, perfect! The brisket would be the only thing I'd eat if I ever get back to Austin. The coleslaw and potato salad were lame, the beans okay but the meat... More

BBQ you can slice with a butter knife! Expect a LONG wait, It's almost the only restaurant in town, but they have outside entertainment while you wait. You can go to the wine tasting room next door and grab a bottle of wine or bring your own cooler of beer. Bring lots of CASH! Cash only at the restaurant. Credit... More

My sister has lived in the Hill Country of Texas for many years and decided it was high time to try Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood. My Virginia sister and I (upstate NY) were visiting for a week and eating lunch in different cities every day. Fortunately, we had a GPS to guide us to our destination. For some silly... More

Now I'm a picky gal with my BBQ. None of this sissy Memphis stuff with vinegar base. This is the real deal in an atmosphere of live music and fun folks. We had about a half hour wait at 7:30 in Saturday night. Wish they wouldn't let folks smoke on the premises but hey it's not my restaurant. The country... More

Best BBQ in Texas? Maybe, just maybe. It is really as good as everyone told me it would be and I would gladly go back to Austin just to eat here again. And the BBQ sauces are so good, I just wish I could get someone to ship me some to Australia.

Had the ribs and the briskett. Both were outstanding, but I prefer the ribs. Also had the blackberry cobbler with a large scoop to ice cream. That was fantastic. Took home some pecan pie that was also fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place. Did have some of their wine and would not recommend it.

We took a short day trip to Driftwood for some "Q". We started in the Salt lick Cellar to taste some of their signature wines. Teri is just wonderful, so very knowledgeable. She helped me choose a wine that was just right for me. We walked over to the restaurant, where we were seated promptly. Taylor, our server, well, was... More

The ribs are huge and very good and I also love the sausage and the coleslaw is not typical, very good, plus potatoes. Very laid back, picnic style seating. This location is great for the family or couples. There is a vineyard/winery next door to it. Also lots and lots of parking. The staff knows what to expect and more... More

Salt Lick was well worth the 30 minute drive from Austin. We tried their ribs, brisket, and sausages. Of all the places we visited, we felt their sausage was the best. It was juicy and succulent with a tender casing. While the other barbecue places were picnic style and outdoors, this was inside an air conditioned, expansive restaurant. The service... More
