In a week-long BBQ trip through Texas, this was my favorite overall experience. You can tell from the second you enter and have to walk past the giant smoker loaded with meat that this will be an unforgettable meal. I had a beef rib, pork ribs, sausage, and potato salad, and every bite was delicious. The place is HUGE, but... More

Went just after 5 pm - lots of room - no waiting -- the service was excellent -- the food was very good -- the BBQ ribs were huge - the brisket and turkey all very good -- though I am not a fan of cream corn - my wife loved it --- even bought a t shirt there --... More

My wife and I had lunch at Salt Lick today. It was our first time having Texas BBQ. We had a great time. They have a specific menu for those familiar with Texas BBQ, and a few combination plates for novices like us. We shared a combination plate that included four meats. The restaurant interior is rustic, nothing fancy. But... More

Have you ever gone with a friend to their favorite restaurant and felt the pressure to agree that it's the most amazing food since bacon was invented? That's kind of how the Salt Lick is. Most people who visit(including myself) are so taken by the great atmosphere and images of huge hunks of meat smoking over a big fire when... More

This place is amazing. Travelled from the uk and this place got good reviews from local texans we met. The meat was simply amazing and I also loved the layout of the place. We even brought some of there sauce to take back home.

Finger-lickin' good! This was probably one of the best BBQ I ever had in my life!!! Moist, meaty goodness of brisket and the double-sided beef BBQ ribs. As soon as my lips touched the meat, I couldn't help but quiver from how tender the meat was. Ask for the "fatty" brisket rather than the lean cut. It'll be the best... More

On our journey from Austin to San Antonio we made a pit stop here and so glad we did! The wait was long but we enjoyed the lemonade, popcorn and music. When we were seated it was kind of disappointing to see the place was only 50% full while making people wait an hour but we tried to not let... More

When you think of Texas you think of barbecue. When you think of barbecue you think of Salt Lick since to put it mildly it is truly very good smoked barbecue. There was a bit of a wait to get in later on while we were there and this was a weeknight. Service was very good. We sat outdoors. The... More

The Salt Lick is a true Austin staple. You absolutely must go if visiting the city! We were faced with an hour wait when we went this past weekend, but I'd been before and knew the food was well worth it. The hour sped by while we waited on picnic benches in the sunshine surrounded by others who'd brought coolers... More
