I have eaten here for 37 years and guess what, they still have one of the waiters that has been there for that long. I don't live in Dallas any longer, but this place is a must eat when I visit there. Everything I have had there is good, but I do have my favorites. The shrimp salad is a... More

In town for a bachelor party, S&D was recommended by a local friend as a great way to start the day. Very classy yet straightforward place in a converted old grocery store (think 1900's, not today's supermarkets), with waitstaff in white shirts, black ties, and red aprons. Staff was excellent, funny, and attentive - wonderful surprise to have the cocktail... More

Loved the laid back old cafe feel of the place. I debated between the oyster loaf and 12 pc oyster dinner. Wanted oysters on the half shell but not bad enough to pay $16 a dozen for them. If you are looking for a Louisiana seafood place, this isn't it. The oysters were a bit small but perfectly fried. The... More

The atmosphere is old style New Orleans-like. Simple tables and chairs, with wait staff in white shirts, black bow-ties and red aprons. No mixed drinks and a limited wine selection. The fried oysters and fried shrimp were excellent, served with cole slaw, hush puppies, and your choice of homemade hand cut fries or creole rice. Excellent wait staff and free... More

My family and I have been eating here for more than 20 years. The food is always fresh and consistently delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Some of the wait staff have worked there for years. This restaurant has remained successful by sticking to a simple menu and doing it well

The food was fresh and service was fantastic! We got there around 11:30AM for lunch and there was no one there... At noon the place had a line out the door!! Best seafood I've had in the Dallas area! Love the dinner feel as well... This place ROCKS!!!!

My daughter lives only a block away and my husband and I love raw oysters, so we tried this restaurant last night. It was very busy when we walked in and it is an open seating area and it was very loud but nice. We have a dozen oysters on the half shell that were good but not quite as... More

First, the atmosphere at S & D is exactly like Old New Orleans....the bar, the servers ( Our Favorite waitress is Pauline) , the tile floor, the decor & the music all set the tone for one of the BEST meals you'll put in your mouth. I really love everything about S&D! I come here for the BBQ Shrimp! The... More

I've eaten here two dozen times over the years and always come back. Professional waiters serving great seafood basics with a New Orleans flavor. Great gumbo. Terrific fried fish, shrimp, etc. Place will be filled with regulars on Saturday/Sunday lunch. Currently expanding. Always scary to see that. Heard they had a fire as well.

Before going to the place, I checked the website to check about bringing your own wine. It mentioned a corking fee will be charged, which is no problem. Once I got there, I was denied the opening of my bottle stating that the website was not up to date and they now have a wine license. I felt at the... More
