Good Acadian/Creole Food Near the Aboretum

After a wonderful experience at the Arboretum, we needed a late supper. The Alligator Cafe turned out to be the perfect place. We had the shrimp po-boy and a bowl of their gumbo. They were excellent and the choice of Louisiana beverage to go with them perfect. The service was quick and friendly... read more

Food was excellent and staff was very accommodation and helpful, we took our son with severe food allergies and the waitress was very helpful in getting his meal prepared a certain way and making sure that there was no cross contamination.

I have been here twice and loved both times I have gone. I always get the shrimp and grits with satisfaction. You can't go wrong with this place.

We have been Alligator Cafe fans from the VERY beginning. Was very happy after the move that the food was even better in the new kitchen. But, over the last 2-3 visits the overall experience just seems to have been allowed to slip. The taste, attention to detail, service, just is not up to past standards. It is not anything... More

A great little place with a decent beer list and enough good ol' creole cooking to satisfy anyone. Ribs and boudin balls are a must. The jambalaya was a big portion, I'm eating it now for lunch. The good times just keep coming. To my dismay they are Closed Monday's.

Dallas gained a lot from Katrina when this restaurant operator came to town. Outstanding gumbo, calamari, etouffe etc. I had an incredible catfish ponchartrain dish. And don't miss desserts. Best whiskey sauce bread pudding outside of New Orleans. We will definitely go back again.

A nice selection of Cajun/Creole dishes in a family friendly setting. I thoroughly enjoy the Jambalaya, my wife raved over the oysters, and my granddaughter loves her some alligator tail. They have a full bar and serve the expected drinks as well as some craft beers and wine. Local musicians play some great jazz in the evenings. If you like... More

Went there yesterday with some other guys, and was a little disappointed. Had shrimp po-boy which I found had too much bread, adequate amount of shrimp, no dressing. Found the shrimp gumbo to be filled with rice and very little else. There are better places in Dallas for cajun food.

If you haven't tried the alligator cafe, you are missing out. This restaurant is in the Casa Linda neighborhood of Dallas so it's off the beaten path for most travelers. Live band and good eats are what you will find here. If you are a Bloody Mary fan, they have the best in the city!

We were craving some down home N'awlins food and found it at Allligator Cafe. Had an order of gumbo and one of blackened redfish with fabulous red beans. The bread pudding was outrageous. The price was right, too. We were able to sit outside which was preferable since the music (which was totally inappropriate for the style) was so loud.... More
