It's not often I get to eat vegetarian food in a temple. Actually, it's not often I get to eat any food in a temple. Kalachandji's is an amazing place, hidden in a quiet neighborhood in East Dallas. It's been on my list of places to go for years, and we finally got there a couple of times last year.... More

Adjacent to a Hindu temple, Kalachandji's offers a spectacular ambiance and a wide range of what to Western palates may be exotic textures and tastes. I can't pretend to know my way around this cuisine, but the staff are knowledgeable and efficient without hovering. We enjoyed a longish meal, never felt rushed, came away vowing to return as soon as... More

The food is always good at lunch. They have a nice variety buffet. Love the cinnamon bread and the tamarind tea. Nice and cozy and the service is always good. Love the little shop there too.

Ok, so you are not a vegetarian. And yes, it's kind of weird going to a temple to eat, but get out of your comfort zone and do something different. I love this simple little place, with the year round lights on a tree and the cool booths and tables and intimate outdoor seating. The food is tasty too.

This place has good food, great atmosphere, super nice staff--donation based payment, they trust you'll give whatever you can for your budget. We always try to give a little extra b/c they actually will feed anyone who comes in whether they pay or not, like the homeless. The little shop in the front has great Indian imports, from clothing to... More

I'm here once a week - it's easily the best place to eat Indian vegetarian/vegan in Dallas. The atmosphere is wonderful: soft music, twinkling lights and a fountain in the courtyard eating area, and staffed by the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. You serve yourself buffet style here and seat yourself either inside or out in the courtyard... More

...need I really say more? I live outside of the metroplex so I use any excuse to come to Dallas and eat at Kalachandji's - at least monthly. They just went up on their prices too and I am not at all perturbed by it. I never want this restaurant to go away. Whatever they have to do to stay... More

I have eaten here several times and I have always been very pleased. You couldn't ask for a more peaceful setting and the food is always fresh and flavorful. It is a great bargin for all you can eat. Visit the palace while there, it is beautiful! In keeping with Krishna doctrine, the cost of the meal is a suggested... More

I eat here almost every day of the week. =) No meat, fish or eggs, or products thereof. No onion or garlic, either. Has several vegan options daily. They do not use frozen or canned vegetables and use expeller pressed coconut oil exclusively. Cooks and other personnel are vegetarian and drug free (also don't drink or smoke). Setting is Indian-fusion.... More
