Not what it used to be

I have been going to The Grape since the 1980s. For so long, this was simply one of the most reliable restaurants for a sophisticated dining experience in Dallas. It is not bad but it has lost a lot of the nuance it used to have, I hate to say. Let me start with the positives -- the food... read more

There is a good reason why The Grape consistently gets great reviews and that is because they deserve it. The food is always wonderful and true to its French roots. Whether you order Roasted Duck, Steak au Poive, Coq Au Vin or a fish dish you can expect it to be perfectly cooked and presented. The cheese platter is a... More

Who would have thought that the best burger in Dallas, by popular vote, would only be served on Sunday and Monday? That fact is on The Grape's website but who looks at a website when they want a burger on a Tuesday? We got over our disappointment and had a fine bistro meal but that wasn't what we were hungry... I have been to The Grape for dinner, but never for brunch. So I was a little taken aback, when I walked in and it was overflowing with people. It is a small venue and the tables are basically on top of each other, so if you don't like tight spaces, don't go here. The service was good and everyone... More

I have been to the Grape several times over the years, but had not been back for some time. It is comforting to know that some things don't change and the Grape is as compelling as ever. The place is tiny and cramped; it feels more like the West Village than Dallas. I guess that is part of the charm.... More

I haven't been for a while. My wife and I went with another couple on Saturday night and it had not changed. The Ambiance was scintillating and the service was friendly, attentive and helpful. I ordered the Maple Roasted Pumpkin soup and it was outstanding. The trout and the stead fritte were both good and they served one of our... More

After years of looking, we have finally found the upscale place that we've been searching for to have Sunday brunch. The menu offers a variety of interesting and delicious brunch options. This visit I had the "standard" breakfast which was 3 eggs, one meat, banana pepper hash, toast and some fruit ($11). The eggs were incredibly flavorful and the bacon... More

OMG! Visited Dallas and taken to eat at The Grape. Wow! I had the Salmon which was the BEST I have had in years! Cooked absolutely to perfection ---- moist yet thoroughly cooked. My husband had the spaghetti with an egg on top. My husband was a bit leery of the egg but he mixed it in and found the... More

My dining companion and I have been coming to the Grape since the mid-70s. It's always been one of our favorite place to eat - except this time. The Grape is small and the tables are close together. We've accepted this over the years; however, this time we were seated ridiculously close to another couple - we might as well... More

A midweek, early evening dinner was perfect in this outstanding quaint restaurant. While the service didn't match the quality of food it still was a pleasant experience. Had the "Coal Miners Pasta", would have it again. From the soup and fresh bread to the entray and freshly made ice cream the evening was one of our best. Oh, they offer... More
