Good Old School Tex Mex

Consistent service and food. Plan on a wait. Its very good for what it is, but I wouldn't rank it high on my list of places I look forward to visiting. But if you are simply looking for decent quality, reasonable, tex mex food, and aren't terribly concerned about the dated interior (that is a... read more

Other than the wonderful chips, the food here is subpar. I was hoping to eat great Mexican in a truly old school atmosphere. What I got was extremely poor. I ordered three different kinds of tacos and their tortilla soup. The tacos were without flavor or punch and the soup was simply bland. Very unfortunate and a waste of a... More

I love the food at El Fenix! I eat there every time I visit Dallas. The menu has a wide variety of selections, and each is prepared with fresh ingredients. I have tried many different dishes, and every one has been delicious. The servings are generous and served at the right temperature. The guacamole is great, as are their chips... More

We ate here with a large group (20 people) and the wait staff did a fantastic job of keeping drinks full, chips & salsa full, getting all the orders right and in a timely fashion and getting the separate checks correct. The food was quite good Tex-Mex and everyone enjoyed the outing.

While traveling we were served a catered lunch and I fell in love!. The beef and chicken fajitas were incredible and I ate my weight in chips and salsa. I can only imagine how good the food is at the location if they do that well with catering.

Used to stop in here quite regularly for a cheap good lunch. Restaurant is in an older building but well kept. Service is quick and the food is always fresh and hot. Normally for lunch I ate the tortilla soup or enchilada platter. A good place to stop in for a quick bite when you have limited time downtown.

Tex-Mex. This place is the gold standard for planet Earth. It simply does not get better because perfection cannot be improved on. I want these people to adopt me or in the alternative I'd settle for working as a bus boy if they threw in meals. Heck, I'd pay them to let me work there with meals.

Great setting with wonderful good. Appetizers were to die for. Food was flavorful and up to par. I loved our waiter, he was of great attendance and he wasn't a bad conversator either. Very friendly staff

My family had dinner there while visiting the city. The service was excellent! We enjoyed dinner ... which isn't always easy for vegetarians that sometimes have seafood ... and dessert! I ordered a margarita, which was quite tasty. The salsa actually has flavor. My husband ordered the chile relleno, which had a blend of cheeses - yum! If you order... More

We were downtown Dallas and started to get hungry. Looked over and this place was packed so we decided to give it a try. We made a great choice. Chips and salsa was fantastic! They were like corn chips and they tasted awesome. Their queso was good but not great. Would get again though. We got the lunch chimichanga and... More
