Fine Ambiance, Real Southern Food

We wanted "Southern food", but not in an informal or bar setting, so this was perfect. My family decided at the last minute to have a birthday celebration for me at this restaurant. So I decided to drop by and speak to someone regarding reservations for 20 people. Larry assisted us and assured us that my birthday celebration would be perfect and it was. When we arrived our tables were reserved in the back of the... More

First - the good. We tried two of the signature mains, the bacon-wrapped meatloaf and the pulled pork. Both were very good, nicely layered in flavor, unique, and plated nicely. The desserts were very good and fresh. We tried the fried pie (super light crust and a nice filling) - and also the banana bread pudding - which would have... More

Having dinner at Hattie's is a delightful experience. The little bar area is a cozy place to sip a glass of wine and wait for your table. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is charming Hattie's is close enough to downtown for a meal before or after the theater. The food is outstanding! I had the quail wrapped in... More

Good food, solid service. Had the steak grits and eggs,(Decent not exceptional) and the Waffle and chicken (very regular) only twist was crushed pepper in the syrup (SO-SO). Long wait >30 minutes.

Hatties found us a table for 7 right away, they were busy, service was excellent, food was very good, good tomato bisque soup, others liked the asparagus. Portions were good, food quality was fresh and excellent, prices very reasonable. I would definitely eat here again, from the outside, it looks kind of fancy and I might not have chosen just... We went for lunch at Hatties in the Bishop Arts District. Great location close to downtown. Nice atmosphere and excellent service. Great Bloody Mary's. Lots of choices of southern cooking with an upscale flair. The Shrimp and Grits were excellent with a beautiful presentation. The 4 cheese Mac and Cheese was awesome. The specials of the day sounded great. The... More

This is a small and often very crowded (and noisy) restaurant in the Bishop Arts District. There are a limited number of tables (mostly crammed in quite close to one another) so I would suggest making reservations if you plan on going during peak hours. We had a great experience the first time we went to this restaurant, but when... More

I've been to Hattie's on my last four visits to Dallas, and last week's meal was a severe disappointment. One of the specials was Duck Confit - a favorite of mine. I asked the waiter to check if the skin was crispy (an indicator of the fresh duck properly prepared), and if it was I would gladly order it. The... More

We have been to Hattie's Restaurant in Bishop Arts for dinner twice in the last three weeks. Both times were delightful dining experiences. Their menu is an interesting composite of foodie and down home. Our favorites have become the fried catfish and the bacon wrapped meatloaf. Yes, a huge portion of bacon wrapped meatloaf. Outstanding entrée for less than $16.00.... More
