Good Mexican, fast service

Came here for lunch. Typical sit down quick service Mexican. Chips and salsa were good, chili con queso was more like cheesewiz or something. I had a beef enchilada and beef taco, both very good. Standard sides of refried beans and rice. Overall not bad, probably a good place to take kids.

What a gem... The brisket tacos are well worth the trip, and that is only the beginning of the deliciousness! They make their own lemon icebox pie that is so so amazing. Service is pretty speedy, though on our busy day, we did wait for a table and split our party in two to be seated more quickly. The fish... More

This place has good Tex-Mex. Nothing too fancy - just good stuff like enchilada plates, tacos, and even grilled items like fajitas. This is not high end - but its one of the places that started the Tex-Mex Craze in Texas decades ago. This location is downtown and conveniently located across from the Perot Science Museum and within walking distance... More

El Fenix has always been known for it's delicious, piping hot, speedy entrees. Sadly, the food at my last visit was not tasty and was not hot. I ordered the veggie enchiladas, which were bland at best and lukewarm. In fact the veggies were under cooked and when asked, at the END of my meal, I told the waiter that... More

The restaurant itself is awesome looking and had a great feel. We went on a Friday night around 7:30-8:00 pm ish and were told it would be a 20 minute wait. I believe it took a bit longer than that, but we were willing to wait. We had a party of 6- 4 adults and 2 kids. When we were... More

We started eating @ this restaurant back in 1979 when I was in graduate school. El Fenix is one of the oldest restaurants in Dallas, & it is the birthplace of the El Fenix chain of Mexican restaurants. To it's credit, this is the oldest chain of Mexican restaurants in the country. The name of the restaurant is Spanish for... More

The waiters were very courteous and patient (we were a party of nine) and took our orders perfectly. Margaritas were delicious and had a good size. Food was hot and delightful, we had a bit of everything, beans were amazing and so were the enchiladas. Tacos were fresh and crunchy and the meats very flavory.

I know this restaurant has lots of history, and I will admit I am not a connoisseur of Mexican food, but I wouldn't go back to this place. Granted, it was a busy lunch hour, but the service wasn't all that great and the food was very disappointing. They seemed more interested in getting us in and out quickly. We... More

Ben going there for over 60 years and it's still top class. The service is excellent and the food quick and fresh. Our waiter, Jose, was very attentive. If you want good Mexican food, come to this location.

It was a busy Friday night but they managed to get the food we ordered out to us within 10 mins!! Also, I was the only person at my table who didn't order food. I just got a soft drink. The waitress didn't charge me for it. How nice was that? :) My only complaint would be parking there can... More
