Good food and pleasant service

I would recommend this chain for good Tex-Mex food and pleasant service. We had the typical taco dishes and enjoyed the experience! We did not have liquor so we cannot comment on specialty Mexican drinks.

My son chose El Fenix to have a mini celebration for good grades. the atmosphere was great, our waiter was perfect, and we all enjoyed everything we ordered! The skinny margarita was really good and the boys loved the chips. I thought the carna asada was very yummy & my husband loved the cheese enchiladas :)

We are real Tex-Mex fans and love to sample the local fare when we have a chance. We are long-time patrons of El Fenix and use it to set the standard for other similar restaurants and it is a high standard indeed. Our most recent visit lived up to expectations. The food was excellent - I had a chicken enchilada... More

This is a Dallas institution. It's been around since the early 1900's so you know it has to be good. I had never been here before, but as a kid, I saw the sign on our frequent trips from north of Dallas to Houston and had always wanted to eat here. On this day, I went just a little after... More

This place is huge. Originated in 1918 which means it has survived a lot of economic ups and downs. the Papa was on the premises the day we had lunch...strolling around the restaurant and visiting with patrons. sweet. I ordered the fish tacos. These were the closest I have found to the extraordinary Fish Tacos in Ensanada, Baja Mexico. Perfect... More

Inside, the restaurant sets the Tex Mex scene well, full of colour and atmosphere with murals on the walls. The service was prompt and friendly, and the range of Tex Mex options was great. The food itself arrived swiftly, and was generous in size and very tasty. The food hits the right spot, more comfort food than anything with a... More

Ate here after reading it is one of the oldest and best places to eat in downtown We walked here after visiting the Perot Museum (which I also recommend doing). The service was great, the chips, salsa and drinks were always refilled. The food was great and plentiful for lunch. 4 kids and 2 adults had lunch and tea/sodas for... More

Well I can't say the food was terrible but we are Mexican Americans and we were NOT impressed. We saw reviews about 3 year in row winning margaritas in Dallas...oh my goodness, they were very sad. First off we received them in wine glasses...WHAT!!!! They tasted like Country Time lemonade with a tiny bit of tequila. So, don't waste your... More

Not much to say as we where only here to kill sometime while waiting on a show at the museum. We stopped in to try out what was advertised as the best Margaritas in Dallas, and we were not disappointed. I had a frozen one while my boyfriend had one on the rocks. We both loved them, they had the... More
