Much better in the old location

A restaurant that serves horribly unhealthy food for ions fits in a place where you can feel the grease on the walls. After moving to the new location in Lakewood it's lost its luster. You might as well just go to Ihop or Denny's. The service and the Cinnamon rolls are still great but... read more

1 pm weekday about 6 customers in the place. Was greeted quickly, asked for table but most were filthy except small back room. Food moderately priced , salad is extra and not offered as a side, oysters well one was perfect after that mushy . Only seasoned fries ( old peoples taste buds are very sensitive so spicy is not good).... More

I love this place. It has a homey feel to it. Makes you feel comfortable immediately. The food isnt healthy and everyone should know that when you see the big ole sweet roll in the front glass. Which is awesome. Lol. Oh my God the patti melt. Thats all im saying. That patti melt makes you want to slap someones... More

Don't miss the cinnamon rolls. Great breakfast with biscuits and gravy. The new location is much more roomy.

Went here due to the popularity and now that they have moved to a new location and are open later. The restaurant now in it's new location looks as if it's been there for a while and that's about the only positive I can say. The food leaves A LOT to be desired. They messed up classic diner style food.... More

I had heard so much about this place over the years that I thought I would be blown away, but I wasn't. It was an average place to have breakfast. And I don't mean that as an insult, it was just average. Not bad but certainly not anything I will be actively seeking out in the future.

So excited the mecca moved to my neighborhood. The space is beautiful, the mecca is no longer an old school diner but maybe the transition needs a little more time. Not impressed with the food or service. Will probably wait awhile to see if they get their act together.

Great food, great old-fashioned atmosphere, super service. It's all at the newly relocated Mecca in the heart of Lakewood. We remember the original location on Harry Hines and are so happy they're in our hood now.

This is a Dallas original with great food (breakfast items, burgers, etc) and they have re-located to Lakewood. The place is a bit small and the wait is very long and the service is mixed at best. Slow response by the wait staff at the tables is an issue that I witnessed constantly. The bigger problem is people who have... More

Well, I finally visited after all these years. This restaurant has been around since 1938. As others have mentioned, they are moving locations any minute now. I think it's best to be out of their current area. I had just scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Each item tasted a bit off. How is that possible??? Shouldn't eggs taste like eggs??... More
