These folks make some fine BBQ, even if they ain't those two other n fussing n fighting well known BBQ joints in the city of Lockhart, Texas. Loockhart Smokehouse is doing it right in Dallas, Bishop Arts. The inside has the true feel and smokehouse smell of a South Texas BBQ joint.

When you think of Texas BBQ, Lockhart's has it all: order at the counter, no plates, bench seating, smell of the smoker, beers in mason jars, etc. their brisket had incredible flavor, one of the few places to have beef clod (shoulder) which is a must try, and their turkey is and actual breast. Their rub does have a little... More

We were only in town for the day and our first stop was here. You order by the pound from the back counter-we asked how much to order, and their recommendation was spot on. We ate every single bite of succulent, perfectly seasoned brisket and the jalapeno mac-n-cheese. I've never had brisket that delicious, and I think it ruined the... More

Had dinner here last weekend. As always, the food is very good and reflective of true Texas Barbeque -- served on paper and bought by the pound. Would recommend that you get the Shoulder Clod as it is always good -- moist and tasty. Also had the ribs and they were moist and tasty as well. The sides are always... More

This place was recommended by the hotel concierge but he forgot to tell us about it. We should have turned around & left the minute we walked in but forged ahead. You have to go to the back of the place to order & the smoke really hits you in the face...not sure how we managed it but we ordered... More

Having been to Lockhart, TX - where I enjoyed several well-reviewed and very excellent BBQ joints, I was interested in finding some good barbecue in Dallas when I was there on business. I found the Lockhart Smokehouse, so I took my co-workers and went for it. It was everything I hoped for - great barbecue with the eating-off-of-paper experience. The... More

Located in the Bishop Arts district this is a place to experience. While not fine dining, it's a place to enjoy incredible smoked meat. This had to be one of my top five places I've eaten at. To order you wak up to place your order. The. They cut what ever type of meat they have and place it on... More

I am not one to complain about the prices of food, but this is a BBQ joint. I had lunch the other day and I found it difficult to order based on the menu and I ended up with a $30 lunch and that did not even include a beer! OK enough about the price. The brisket was so so... More

Very good quality bbq meats and sides! Now if you don't like spicy stuff then may not be for you. There's just one sauce and it's spicy, as were the beans and jalapeño mac and cheese. You order by the quantity of meat so an example is 1/2 pound of turkey. Order and pay at the counter then seat yourself.... More
