Great smoked brisket and sausage.

I can eat until I'm ready to burst, and still want more. The smoked meats are delicious. This is a real simple smokehouse. You order the meat by weight, they place it on a sheet of butcher paper, weigh it and off you go. The sides are satisfactory, but you come here for the slices of smoked... read more

In Dallas for awards show and went here for lunch. It's all order by weight which meant we tried a little of everything brisket, turkey chicken and sausage. Brisket and turkey were my favorites don't know how they keep them so moist but one of the best we have ever tried. Had sides of beans which are very hot as they... More

We chose Lockhart because it was walking distance from our meeting location. It was a local place and not a chain YiPPEEE. We went early for dinner than we wanted so we could sit together as you know no reservations, so you have to beat the rush. I didn't get involved in the food ordering part since I was getting... Even though Lockhart is number 1 on a lot of blogs and in magazines, I thought it was average. The meat quality was still good and the brisket was juicy. It's just taste preference.

Went for dinner one night - was surprised to see a long line with a chain blocking the counter. Guess they sold out earlier and to re-stock. Anyways, totally worth the wait! Had some awesome brisket that is generously cut and thrown in paper with some bread. Had the mac and cheese and slaw as well which were both delicious.... More

When this BBQ place was recommended to us on a recent business trip I thought "really, LOCKHART Smokehouse...in Dallas?" but wow! It was really good. It is a place where you order by weight, the same way you do at many "traditional" places around the state so don't expect the 1/2/3 meat plate ordering you get elsewhere. They have tried... More

I was unfamiliar with ordering meat by the half pound or pound, so that was kinda different. I was ordering for me, my husband, a day our three and Seven year old. We ended up getting a half pound brisket, pound of ribs, deviled eggs, baked beans, and mac and cheese. It ended up being $36. The brisket was very... More

This is a very good barbecue restaurant, even by the famed "central Texas" standards. I find that the brisket can be hit or miss, usually depending on the pitmaster. If one of the head pitmasters (Will) is there, you are probably in for a treat. I have always had a great cut of brisket from him. If not, I would... More

A staple of the bishop arts district, lockharts provides that essential ingredient of any true Texans diet, the barbque. Whether it be the brisket or ribs, this place will always satisfy. Don't get there to late cause they have been known to sell out. Love eating here and they going for a walk around the neighborhood to try and burn... More

Brisket is definitely very good. Other stuff are just okay... not any better than a regular BBQ place. Sausage has lots of tendons; threw away most of it. Rib was NOT falling off the bones like I would have expected from a good BBQ place. The location is nice... can walk around a little. The BBQ restaurant was not pack,... More
