No Smoke & Mirrors At Smoke - The BBQ Is Fantastic

We had wanted to try some BBQ while in Dallas and a colleague had researched some names – these are supposed to be the places to go, he said. So, I did a quick look on the Internet and found his top 3 were closed for day, apparently only open for the lunch crowd during the early part of the... read more

The food was divine. The specific waiter's attitude we could have done without but the food is amazing. The grits and hominy were a cheese lovers delight. The smoked ham steak, egg and savory "pancake" was slap your mama good. The eggs Benedict variation was tasty delicious goodness.

This is an unpretentious choice for lunch with friends. Service is unobtrusive, but attentive and the lunch offerings are generously proportioned, with most entrees hovering around $15.

As a visitor to Dallas, I researched the best places for barbecue. SMOKE came highly recommended from a number of sources, and so I decided to give it a try -- as I wanted to take some people out for a meal. The hostess greeted us enthusiastically. The restaurant itself is well designed and interesting. As a test of the... More

Smoke is a must. The grilled shrimp cocktail, the grilled oysters, the grilled smoked sausages, and the gumbo are have to tastes. The mescal key lime pie will make your lip smack and mouth water. Jenn, our waitress, is an on the ball go-getter. Awesome.

We went there with three other couples, the restaurant is crowded, but they still have a personalized service. The waiter went out of his way to explain our options and pointed out some of them that have won awards. We tried the big rib, one for my wife and I, our only regret is that we wished we had ordered... More

Sounded like a gimmick, but darned if it wasn't. In brief the flavor of vegetables as well as meats was equal to the incredible aroma on entering! Smoke flavor, subtle at times and daringly strong in others is well worth the visit and worthy of the name. Of course we will return.

I got the ricotta blueberry pancakes with a side of pork belly "bacon". Fantastic. The pancakes were super rich and tasty, and the pork belly was thick and smoky. My only regret is that I was here alone and couldn't get the brisket hash. Smoke has a great atmosphere that mixes old school Dallas with a fancy BBQ joint. I... More

I had a fantastic meal here. I'm not a fan of bar-BQ but my ribs were so good and the desserts were something special.

Smoke was recommended by a work colleague and I couldn't thank him enough for the suggestion. Smoke is in an off-beat location just south of downtown, but it was well worth the hunt. Great creative drink choices. The beet appetizer was good and a nice compliment to some of the heavier food. We all couldn't resist trying the coffee crusted... More
