We saw this restaurant showcased in the television show Hungry Investors and since we were visiting the area we decided to venture downtown to taste the wonder. Unfortunately, Shak wasn't there, but it was still fun to go. I'm not used to very large cities so I was a bit apprehensive at the location and the bars on the door,... More

Run down exterior, but looks are deceiving. Walk up ordering and self serve drinks. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean, small seating near counter, but bigger dining area through doorway. Order brought promptly. Ribs were extremely tender, great rub and delicious. The brisket had good bark and was tasty but was a little tough, maybe it was an end piece.... More

The ribs, brisket and sides at this restaurant were delicious. We had people recommend fancy places to get barbecue but I'm glad we listened to our hearts and opted for the smaller less travelled establishment. If you want good authentic Texas barbecue try this place...just like home cooking!

Apparently both the Shak's interior and exterior recently got a complete overhaul. It has a hoppin' jazzy atmosphere. The dining room is clean and open and slightly trendy, which is par for the course in Dallas, but not necessarily for barbecue joints in general. This all seems to fit with their stated slogan: "Taste the sound of Memphis BBQ." It's... More

We waited in line to order for about 20 minutes. A lot of the slowness was because people kept popping in to pick their phone-in takeout orders, and the sole cashier had to stop to ring them up. Maybe takeout's the way to go here. Anyway, I got a three-meat platter with brisket, links, and ribs. The links were good,... More

Ok from the outside its not much to look at. Ok from the INSIDE its not much to look at, but it is without a doubt some of the best BBQ this side of Memphis. They don't just do brisket which is what most folks in Texas call BBQ. It's ribs poultry and some of the most amazing fresh smoked... More

Ask for Clarence and tell him Jimmy sent you. Nothing will change and he will wonder who Jimmy is. Food is great still with some of the best brisket around

Found this place by accident but always enjoy searching out new BBQ places. The smoked meets were very good. The ribs were very meaty and flavorful. The chicken was moist and the sausage tasted great. A huge disappoint were the sides! The cole slaw was the vinegar type and was horrible. The green beans were out of a can and... More

I have to say that Baby Back Shak is probably the best barbq that I've tasted in the DFW metroplex. When I found out that the owner is originally from Memphis that made a-lot of sense. I'm a critic of bbq and in some cases prefer my own before others but this restaurant is at the top in the Dallas... More

Ok we were going to go to "0ff the Bone" which is in the same area. Its a very small place and today the temp in Dallas is 108°F and this little shack A/C was not working. We decided to place our order to go. We got 2 rib plates which included to sides, so we got green beans and... More
