Really Good Food

We loved this place and left so full it was crazy, they don't skimp on the portions. I had the turkey plate, ate all I could, and had plenty left over. I wasn't impressed with the coleslaw and potato salad but the boudin and beans were excellent. We all loved the dry rubbed ribs and voted them the... read more

Come here with several of my coworkers for lunch and ended up with dinner too. It was really good food, and the portions were plentiful. I'll have to put this on the LIST of returns.

A friend has been telling ma about this place, we finally went to eat there today and I was very pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Rib Sandwich which is four ribs with two slices of white bread, BBQ sauce, pickles and a side, I had the slaw my friend had the beans. Don't be mislead by the name, the Rib... More

You so need to try this place. We had the ribs, Cornish hen, potato salad, baked beans and corn. Everything was yummy! The baked beans included ground beef and a good deal of spice. Cornish hen was tender and seasoned really well. Ribs were awesome. Don't not try this place!!!

I ordered a beef plate and ate and ate and ate. The food was delicious but I finally had to give up because I was in pain from being stuffed. I judge a good bbq place by its slaw, this place passed with flying colors.

Baby Back Shak captures the true essence of slow smoked BBQ. The ribs are always tender, juicy, wrapped in a wonderful dry rub. BBQ sauce is optional because these ribs really don't need it. This restaurant offers a wide veriety of meats and sides. The service is great. When in Dallas Baby Back Shak is not to be missed.

We saw this restaurant showcased in the television show Hungry Investors and since we were visiting the area we decided to venture downtown to taste the wonder. Unfortunately, Shak wasn't there, but it was still fun to go. I'm not used to very large cities so I was a bit apprehensive at the location and the bars on the door,... More

Run down exterior, but looks are deceiving. Walk up ordering and self serve drinks. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean, small seating near counter, but bigger dining area through doorway. Order brought promptly. Ribs were extremely tender, great rub and delicious. The brisket had good bark and was tasty but was a little tough, maybe it was an end piece.... More

The ribs, brisket and sides at this restaurant were delicious. We had people recommend fancy places to get barbecue but I'm glad we listened to our hearts and opted for the smaller less travelled establishment. If you want good authentic Texas barbecue try this place...just like home cooking!

Apparently both the Shak's interior and exterior recently got a complete overhaul. It has a hoppin' jazzy atmosphere. The dining room is clean and open and slightly trendy, which is par for the course in Dallas, but not necessarily for barbecue joints in general. This all seems to fit with their stated slogan: "Taste the sound of Memphis BBQ." It's... More
