A darling Dive

Burgers & Chicken. Not fancy just good. A full service bar with some tasty San Gria & hot home style fries sealed the deal. Plenty of pool tables to pass the time. It was virtually empty at lunch on a Thursday; but, I hear it's rocking in the evenings & a preferred tailgate spot.

This is the most iconic bar in the Northgate Area and has been going strong for over 30+ years. I came to A&M from the Midwest to attend graduate school, and I learned many things about

We were there for Ring Day - it was packed and lots of fun. We got drinks and appetizers. The fried jalapenos were awesome. It is just a place you need to visit - an Aggieland favorite for students, former students, locals and friends.

Had not been back in 25+ years (Class of '79). Same decor, classic in the dive bar mode. Interesting mix of college students and graying former students. Completely unpretentious.

The interior is very dark and old, a real "bar" bar. On a Sunday morning, it smelled a lot like Saturday night! We ate on the back deck. Check your chair first, as some are quite rickety. The employees were friendly. My husband and I each had a cheeseburger basket. The burgers were fairly small but very tasty. The servings... More

We ate lunch here on St. Patrick's Day and had a wonderful time. As always, the food was good and the beer cold.

You should know what you're in for when you go. It is old, eclectic, weird, even smells kinda funny. However, it is a good bar to have a good time, and the burgers are quite delicious. ORder at the counter and pick it up. The area around the kitchen can get quite crowded, and the hall to get from there... More

So I heard I HAD to go here, I did and was not impressed. First you order at a counter, then sit yourself, then they call your name, then you pick up your food, get your napkins and utensils seat yourself again and later clear your table. Not sure why there is a tip jar at the counter? For three... More

Anticipation was high as I had been waiting 7 years to visit The Chicken. At the entry I was greeted by loud vulgar language on the patio from young ladies - really disgusting. Order line was eventful and bartender was border line rude, The atmosphere is a pool hall & bar with loud music and loud & foul language from... More
