Local Family Friendly Diner

Definitely the place to go for a Hill Country breakfast. The best part, in addition to serving breakfast all day, you don't have to wait 45 min for a table unlike "the best breakfast" locals in SA. We have eaten here a couple times and the food has always been consistent. Eggs have always been... read more

My family and I were sitting waiting to have our drink order taken and menus, and we were waiting for 15 minutes, when another family walked in and right away had their order taken. We were not even acknowledge. It felt like we were in a 1940's era when Mexicans were not allowed in a White establishment.Like we were outsiders... More

We were staying nearby and on the first day of our trip we woke up later than intended. We stumbled upon this hidden gem which thankfully serves breakfast all day. The French Toast was amazing as was one of their omlets! Nothing fancy about the restaurant, just good home cooking. The only word of warning is that they only take... More

Startz Cafe is a somewhat cliqish cafe for the locals. They open at the crack of dawn on most days , and the old timer regulars whom the waitresses and cooks know by name have their designated table where they will stay for a couple of hours. Shoot, on occasion, the old timers will grab a coffee refill on their... More

nice restaurant worth stopping by if you feel like having a home made food. Nothing fancy but good old fashion restaurant , seems to be there for decades. Friday night they have fish which was tasty. They only accept cash or checks.

Starts Cafe has been around since the 1940's. The menu is simple and the hours are short -basically they serve breakfast and lunch. The coffee is great and they are right there to refill your cup. Two people can eat a great meal for $15 or less. The enchiladas are wonderful. This place is popular with tourists and locals. Cash... More

This is not a fancy place. It is instead a friendly, basic cafe...opens very early for breakfast and stays open ytil 800pm. The chicken fried steak was very good and the pinto beans were clearly home made as well. There is nothing fancy here, but the pies easily make up for that!

This place has been around a long time, don't expect anything fancy though. It's good food at a good price, and cash only although there is a atm outside.

The wife and I stopped there today on a day trip to Canyon Lake. We were looking for a place to have lunch and their parking was almost full so we stopped. Good move. The place is definitely plain and simple. Concrete floors and wooden tables. It was clean and comfortable. The waitress was friendly and very efficient. The place... More

I am white, but my girlfriend is not. I tell you that the people there should have taken a picture as it would have lasted longer. They stared so long and hard that my girlfriend was very uncomfortable. The saving grace was our waitress who was very friendly. My girlfriend said she would not have gone in by herself.
