Always excellent in all aspects never had anything bad, hot rolls always fresh all the way to the table. The price is competitive and always clean eating area. The bathroom needs to be bigger, but other than that it's an excellent choice

This establishment has a special place in my life. I grew up an hour and a half drive from Underwoods and eating this BBQ is always a special occassion for every generation of my family. The BBQ beef is the best and no one knows whats in the orange sauce that covers it, but it is something special. It is... More

Homecooking and all you can eat, but not a buffet. Similiar to a Luby's - they serve the meat and you serve your own sides. Eat the homemade bread. It's worth every calorie!

This was my second time to eat here but once was more than enough. I didn't want to come here again but it was my dad's birthday and he chose it. Otherwise, I stay far away. If you like meat, this is the place for you. If you like bland vegetables, this is the place for you. If you like... More

Underwoods has been a located in Brownwood since WWII and is well established as an iconic place in the area. The barbecue is served in a cafeteria line and each meal includes your choice of meat and all the sides, rolls and homemade cobbler you can eat. Drinks are included and as you sit in the dining room, you'll be... More

I had an aunt in Fort Worth, TX who, many years ago, on occasion, would take my three cousins and me out to the Underwood's BBQ on Mansfield Highway, then on to see a movie in the Poly area of town (usually an Elvis Presley movie since she was a big fan!) Underwood's was a well known chain of family... More

On our visits to Texas, we often drive from the Fort Worth/Dallas area just to eat at Underwood's. My husband and I grew up during their zenith, when they had many locations, and we really enjoy going to this last remaining one whenever possible. The only problem is deciding what to have. The barbecue beefsteak is very unique, and always... More

This was a buffet style of meal. There were a number of choices from BBQ to catfish. I tried the fried catfish and it was very good. Large fillets rather than little chunks. If there was a problem, it was having too many choices. I couldn't fit them all on my try. Service was as expected for this part of... More

My boyfriend has been going to Underwoods for years so when we were in town to visit his mother we stopped in. The meat was good but not great and the portion could have been bigger. The veggies had almost no flavor. I liked the corn and the green beans were way over cooked. Everything else seems to just be... More
