Sad Experience 2/28/15

We moved to San Antonio 3 weeks ago. We heard about Boerne and excited to enjoy some foods from where we had visited. My husband had a good beer, we ordered the specials for Saturday. We try and do this thinking that would be the freshest item to order. The Roull? special with meat wrapped... read more

Since we winter in Texas & I am Bohemian, I'm always very excited for our first visit to this restaurant to enjoy the same food my mother used to prepare. We stopped in with another couple and most of the food was very medioce and slow to arrive. But the biggest disappointment was the fruit dumpling dessert which was only... More

We have been here several times in the past year and it is usually OK. Our most recent experience was disappointing. We arrived for our 6:30 pm res and were promptly told that they were out of specials and German potato salad (a staple on the menu). The meat loaf was OK. The Rauf Schnitzel was bone dry and swamped... More

It had been quite awhile since I had been to Little Gretel, the food was average then but is outstanding now! A chef at another local place that I like told me that I needed to go back to it and give it another try and she was right. The schnitzel was outstanding and the sauce that came with it... More

The restaurant is easy to get to on Hwy 46 across from the park. The servers were terrific and the food took me back to when I was stationed in Germany-the food is authentic and at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is quaint, but nothing fancy. However, I went for the food and not the ambiance. Take the time to... More

Surprising to find good tasting German & Czech food where you expect to BBQ and Mexican food; the food was excellent with a very friendly atmosphere, and good service. Meal and drinks was not pricy.

Great tasting food of Czech and German dishes. Good choice for a different menu from anywhere else in Boerne.

Cold, scrubby, kayaker wanted a good breakfast in the Texas Hill Country town of Boerne..... Next To a creek, yellow & red colored leaves with bright sunlight in the glass fronted cafe. I found hot flavored coffee, excellent service, clean store, endless coffee. The meal was excellent, sauce over the eggs was delicious. An hour later, awake, full, and whistling... More

I have experienced some frustration that there really is not good German food to be found anywhere in south Texas, or the hill country. However, every once in a while I will find a place that gives me some hope. Little Gretel was discovered one day as we were driving by. The restaurant is adorable. The inside seating area is... We ate at Little Gretel with our 9, 7, and 3 year olds as well as four adults. We had four different adult entrees, clam chowder, a macaroni and cheese kids meal and lentil soup. Everybody loved everything they ordered. The Jaeger Snitzel with sauerkraut was exceptionally delicious! Their german salad is to die for! We also enjoyed dessert which... More
