DELICIOUS food at a great value in tight quarters

There is not much room for parking or many tables, but the food is fantastic. I regularly get the chicken-fried steak/chicken and it is some of the best I've ever had (and I've had a lot of great ones growing up in central Texas). The salads are healthy and well done. The sandwiches are... read more

If you are ever passing through Blanco, TX, you must go to this cafe for breakfast at least once. The eggs Benedict over crab cakes was absolutely the best anywhere. Everything was delicious. What a gem.

It may always be packed but there's a reason for it. It comes down to very good food and reasonable prices I would highly recommend it.

Visited on a Sunday morning on the way back to San Antonio from camping. Looks from the outside are deceptive inside was a very cute decor featuring if course chess pieces but also local photography. My daughter had pancakes and they thriller incredible! Light and fluffy! Other daughter has a delicious Belgian waffle. Husband's western omelet was excellent as well.... More

Stopped here purely by chance while passing through Blanco on the way elsewhere. The meal was excellent. Service was good in spite of a very busy time (every table taken and people waiting). Bread was baked on site and was really good. Limited menu, but enough options for most anyone.

We had to work hard to find the Chess Club Cafe the first time, but finding a yummy breakfast was worth the search. The venue is a 100-year old house turned restaurant and the food is really good. We had the migas (scrambled eggs with salsa, onions and diced tomatoes) and biscuits and gravy. The portions are generous. The wait... More

After discovering that there are surprisingly few breakfast options in Blanco, we found the Chess Club, and we were glad we did. It is a smallhouse, with a smaller kitchen, but they really do a good job with breakfast. Especially if you, like me, love poaced eggs. Try this place.
