Resident of Blanco

Lived in Blanco for years, have seen eateries come & go. Chess Club has consistently been the top of the line. Never had anything from the menu that was dissapointing. Staff are delightful.

Today I attended a lunch at the Chess Club Cafe. I had no idea what to expect. It was in an old house with the rooms set up as separate dining areas. The menu was very complete with a wealth of hot and cold sandwiches, many salads, quiches, quesadillas, chicken fried steak, etc. There were 16 or 17 of us... More

Excellent ingredients, carefully prepared and presented. Creative chef. Far beyond expectations. Friendly staff, moderate to low prices.

A local told us about this café, we wished we would have discovered it sooner, the food was excellent and the service was great. Cute home turned into a restaurant. Had the BLTA w/fresh ingredients and homemade bread. Great place and good menu, heard the breakfast was fantastic.

There is nothing bad on this menu. The chef is amazing. We went as a family and was given a small dining room of our own (it is located in a small converted home). One meal can easily feed 2 and very moderately priced. We had to die for Chicken fried steak, roasted turkey wrap, smoked turkey Santa Fe sandwich,... More

We have traveled many times to Blanco but this is the first time that we've eaten at this café. We enjoyed the food so much after our first visit for breakfast that we ate all of our meals there for the next two days!

It's unassuming, tucked back off Hwy 281 in Blanco,TX, a small, old house serving up delightful breakfast & lunch. Meals made with little to no processed foods, the pastries/bread from scratch and one of the few places (most likely) you can get real southern chicken fried steak. This is real meat/made fresh, no frozen patties. with an amazing crunchy batter,... More

Don't let the exterior fool you. Chef Steve makes extraordinary breakfasts, to satisfy any tastes. We eat here several times a week for breakfast or lunch. Lunch menu is excellent also. Don't miss all the homemade breads and other baked goodies!

We went for lunch and all of us got a different sandwich. The bread was homemade and very tasty. I had a BLTA and it was excellent. The other 3 sandwiches looked equally as good. I have heard they have an excellent breakfast so may have to return while I'm in town.

Great breakfast and great coffee. Try one of the different versions of the eggs Benedict. Everyone there is always friendly and welcoming as you would expect in a small town.
