We drove by there today (Sunday) and there were tons of cars there. We had already eaten or would have stopped. Does anyone have any info on the place? I will rate it excellent until we find out different. They must be doing something right with all the customers that was there!

The food was terrific, the service was horrible, and the place is closed. The Chef/owner really put out great food, but his business acumen was not good. Frustrating because, with just a few service tweaks, the place could have been great.

Sorry to inform everyone but Jason closed The Grotto Grill over a year ago and this is a new restaurant with basically the same name. I have not eaten here since it changed hands but I could not post this without putting in a rating.

After reading all of the terrific reviews on Tripadvisor, I made a special point of scheduling lunch at the restaurant during my trip through Hill Country. My first suspicion came when my GPS indicated that the restaurant had closed. My second suspicion came when I arrived at the property and the name on the sign said "The Grille". Nonetheless I... My wife and I dropped by at lunch and had a hamburger and a grilled chicken sandwich - both with Swiss cheese and avocado. Both were good. The avocado was spectacular - perfect condition. Both came with beans and fries. We thought it was relatively healthy. Less salt and fat than most places but good quality and flavor!

You won't be disappointed going here. We have eaten here around 13 times, when we are in Bandera or anywhere near. This food is amazing!!! It's always super fresh and the daily specials are always different. The chef puts his heart into his cooking. He belongs in New York!!! This is the best part of Bandera!!! Can't wait to return!!!

After sampling the food we were so glad we took a "chance" and ate lunch here. Service is minimal, but that is to be expected when the owner/chef was the only staff. It was worth the extra wait for the delicious portabella open faced sandwich and side salad. We would have returned for an encore at dinner, but sightseeing took... More

Thank you Trip Advisor! We recently tried the Grotto Grill for lunch based on reviews. We live in Kerrville and were meeting people from Boerne. When we arrived, we realized that we had seen this restaurnant many times, but never knew anything about it, so never stopped. Do NOT be distracted by the outward appearance! This has to be the... We have been sampling Bandera's restaurant fare for some 20 years now. Since The Grotto opened back some five plus years ago we have had a place where we actually wanted to go for lunch and dinner. Not to say that there are not decent places to eat in Bandera, there are a reasonable number of them for a town... More

Now this is a funky out of the way place, just off the " strip" and not your typical Barbeque joint... 3 guys cook, run it and staff the entire place. My wife and I wanted to try something different and had an even near by... Please dont miss it... Order the Humus (yeah, sounds wierd trust me) and Get... More
