Two couples of us (wives are sisters) were on our third annual stay in the Townsend area and although Riverstone is our pick of breakfast eateries, we decided to try A. J.'s. No, no --- do not do it! This restaurant is the poorest excuse for a restaurant in which we have ever eaten. There was only one server and... More

Stopped here for breakfast before a hike in the Smoky's. Had the buffet andcoffee. Pretty standard fare and standard food. Server was very nice and willing to chat. This was a good stop and we enjoyed it. Owner seemed a bit put off when I paid with a card but that is his thing to deal with. Not rude but... More

SO SORRY To Read ALL of The BAD REVIEWS Continuing For The Hearth & Kettle. We Too Had A Terrible Experience There For Breakfast One Morning & Will NEVER Go Back Again. Slow, Negative Waitress & Owner, Below-Average Food, & Their Website Menu Doesn't Represent What They Actually Have On Their Extremely-Limited Actual Restaurant Menu! We Discussed This With The... This was by far the worst breakfast buffet I have ever eaten......actually I couldn't eat it. I have never left a review about anything but do not want anyone to waste their hard earned money on this awful food...

You never know with these type of diners, but this one was quite a dive. Atmosphere is like a diner and store with a country flare. The server seemed annoyed with her job. Once she took our or it was approximately 25 minutes before the food came to the table. I was amazed that all the food was ice cold,... More

We were looking for a good breakfast place on a Monday morning but unfortunately the few restaurants with good ratings were closed. We ended up at this place which was the only restaurant opened we could find. Two of us opted for the breakfast bar and one of us ordered blueberry pancakes and the other sausage omelet. It seemed like... More

We stopped here for breakfast. My husband usuallly picks dives. As a result, most of the time I make the call on where to dine; however, this time I let him choose. He outdid himself with AJ's. What an experience ! It was moderately crowded. A lot of folks had eaten and were leaving when we got there, but there... More

We ar locals and discovered this place several years ago after a friend recommended it and have been there dozens of times. The reason: the catfish is amazing. I've had several other item from the menu and they are on-par with most other country restaurants in the area - nothing special. I have heard bad things about the breakfast from... More

I agree with some of the sentiments in other reviews regarding the smell and ambience, so I'll not repeat what has already been said. However, the catfish is the best I've ever had and the hush puppies are wonderful.

It's hard to make a bad breakfast but they are very good at it. Watery gravy, tasteless eggs, tator tots instead of hash browns. This is below cafeteria quality. They do not care about food quality. They exist to take advantage of tourists one time visit.
