Great American Food

We go here a lot. It is one of the best restaurants in town. Good food, freshly prepared. This is not typical diner fare. Soup, Sandwiches, great trout, steaks. And yet very reasonably priced. Desserts are made fresh and there is always something new on the dessert menu. Highly recommended

I have a theory..if local people eat there it will be good. They do and it is! Good cafe food with home made cakes and pies for dessert. Friendly staff and quick service.

Only one other couple in place. Server was rude and we had to keep getting up to find her for refills, napkins, bring us what we ordered.

We were driving through Townsend on our way to Cades Cove and a quick TripAdvisor check of available restaurants showed the Black Bear Cafe to be high on the list and also just happened to be very near the spot where we were at that moment, so we turned in. We're glad we did! We had the Reuben sandwich and... More

Stopped off and decided to have a light lunch. Ordered burgers and chips with drinks. Food was excellent and service throughout could not have been better. Plenty to eat and all really good value for money. Highly recommend

My husband and I along with my in-laws are back visiting Townsend. We heard great things about the Black Bear Cafe while we were here last year, but didn't get a chance to check it out. So glad we made time this year!! Food was amazing and our server Martha was cheerful, and a fabulous server! She brought things before... More

We all had the fish sandwiches. This place highly recommended from those at Visitors Center. Fish was white, flaky & delicious. Only gave it a 3 because we don't like being given plastic utensils to eat. This was a cute cafe and we expected regular utensils. Waitress very bubbly. You could tell she enjoyed her job. We were here after... More

Went there for the Thursday night Grouper dinner. It was excellent and I'll go back again. The only down side was that they don't serve beer or wine.

Recommended by the people at Tuckaleechee Caverns and we are so glad we listened to them!! The place was packed (and it's small) but the food portions are HUGE and you better share if you want to get dessert as you will not be able to eat dessert after eating your meal! I had a bacon cheeseburger, my husband had... More

We stopped in here for lunch after a tour of the nearby cavern. This is a sweet little cafe with friendly service and good food. My BLT sandwich was prepared with their homemade bread. My husband had the fried grouper sandwich and loved it. I highly recommend going here.
