small cafe but worth the stop

I had the daily special, meatloaf, parsley potatoes and pinto beans. My fiancé had hamburger with fries. The food looked really good and tasted very good. Our waitress, Sarah, was very sweet.

Last weekend we were vacationing in the Pigeon Forge, TN area and visited the Tuckaleechee Caverns. We stopped at the Black Bear Cafe in Townsend, TN on the way home for lunch and it was great. The restaurant was very clean, affordable prices, and the service was very friendly. We had the fish sandwich which was amazing. We also enjoyed... More

Yeah!!! They're back. After their winter vacation they are back as good as ever. I had the Reuben sandwich and loved it.

Last year, before the "off" season began, I regularly brought our hiking group to this excellent eatery and always experienced great food and service until the last day of the season. The Grouper fish dinner is a specialty that I've enjoyed as well as the trout. Both are fried but lightly breaded, and taste very fresh! I recommend this place... More

Great home cooked food! The desserts are all homemade, the food is wonderful and the staff is great. Small little place, but big on quality and taste. They are seasonal.

This is our 7th time staying in the Townsend area on vacation and each year we make sure to head to this simple little restaurant with the awesome food. This year we ate there twice in a week and brought my sister and brother in law along. Once again I had the perfectly seasoned fried chicken and a homemade vegetable... More

No kidding! I have eaten many steaks and seriously, no doubt about it, this is the best ribeye steak ever! I picked it up and gnawed on it...it's that good! Danielle is great too. Always talking us into desserts! Great personality and great server! Thanks!

It was the end of the season and items were limited! I will wait for spring and return! The food we were able to order was excellent. The grilled chicken sandwich I ate was on homemade bread and it was outstanding! If desserts are your thing this will be your place! The service was outstanding!

Always good food and a great staff. Hate to see them close for the season. Best wishes to the Shulers and all of the staff.
