I've eaten at Black Bear twice. Once I got a club sandwich and it was fantasti and so is the fried okra. The second time I went I ordered a cheeseburger and I literally wanted to vomit. It was the most hellish cheeseburger I've ever eaten and my server was a blonde older lady who was pretty rude. She slammed... More

Dear Husband got the Reuben; I got the grouper sandwich. Dear Husband devoured his Reuben, very happy that it was properly made -- and on such fresh bread! He loved it. My grouper sandwich was *delicious* and a huge, sloppy, fabulous mess. I had to stop eating it like a sandwich and start eating it with a fork and knife.... More

You will not find better fried okra unless you cook it yourself. When our server brought out two baskets, we thought the whole meal would be in the baskets. The baskets only contained okra! I could not eat it all! My husband and I had the special which was fried grouper with two sides for under $10 each. Our server... More

It may look small but it is big on good food. I had the ribeye sandwich and my wife had fried trout. We both enjoyed our meal and the good service by Danielle. We were too full to eat dessert so we got ours to go. Even several hours later my pecan pie was great.

Great food and priced right. Wonderful hospitality. We stop here each and every time we are in the area and visiting Cade's Cove. Anything on the menu is fantastic.

We went to the Black Bear Cafe on the recommendation of the desk clerk at the Talley Ho Inn. She told us all the locals eat here so we knew it would have to be good and it was! The first time we went we both order cheeseburgers and they were delicious and cooked to order. While waiting for our... More

My husband had the ribeye and I had the fried grouper. Both were delicious and our server, Sarah, was very sweet and attentive. Unfortunately, we were too full to try the homemade desserts, which looked amazing. Hopeful that we'll return someday and be able to come back.

My wife and I did dinner here our first evening in the area, just looking for good food and we found it. Seemed to be a favorite hangout for locals. Nice small Americana diner, basic dishes but good food and reasonable prices. We'll go back!

We ate in three Townsend restaurants and this was my favorite. We just had burgers, fries and I had the fish sandwich which was very good. The place seemed full of locals which is a good sign. Everything looked good especially the desserts!
