After riding motorcycles in the mountains for hours, we stumbled upon a true gem in the Smokies! The owner and staff produced delectable food in huge portions at a paultry price. The owner makes all of the deserts from scratch and from her grandmother's recipes. Wear loose fitting pants! Be sure to tell them I said "Hi!".

We enjoyed our veggie burgers and hamburgers here for lunch. I had the fried okra as a side and expected just a few pieces. The portion was extremely generous and it was not greasy at all. Our waitress talked us into a homemade dessert. I had the chocolate pie which was more like a pudding pie. My friend had the... More

Stayed 10 days at the KOA up the road, great place to stay on the river, and we ate here almost everyday! Ribeye steak was cooked to perfection!! Desserts were amazing!!! Hamburger was always a great lunch! Grouper was the only disappointment. From Florida, it is not grouper.... But it was cooked nice. Great staff!!!!

If you need to at while you are in the Smoky Mountains, The Black Bear Cafe is a great choice! It is conveniently located off Little River Road, on the way to Cade's Cove. Their sandwiches are well worth stopping for! The hamburger is patted out by hand and well seasoned; the grouper sandwich is as good as any I've... More

Wonderful food and friendly staff. The daily specials go fast due to everything is home cooked and in limited quantity. We had the Grouper sandwich and ribeye sandwich, very good and large portions for us. Great desserts also.

My husband & I ate twice at Black Bear during our week's stay in Townsend. We were given a takeout menu by a fellow "tourist" who touted the food as good and plentiful AND the menu possession entitled us to a 10% discount. We went in and placed a to-go order, said we needed to run down to the grocery... More

Everything was homemade and very fresh. Large portions. Very friendly staff. I had the ribeye dinner for lunch which was cooked exactly medium rare. Vegetable beef soup was good. Exchanged potato for fried okra. Pineapple upside down cake. Very hard to choose dessert. All looked great.

My friend and I had gone to the caverns in Townsend, and I asked our tour guide where he would recommend to go to lunch, he told us the " black bear cafe" and handed me a menu with a ten percent coupon. I said I don't want a tourist trap, and he said this is where we go for... More
