Very unique

The food was absolutely devine. Our server, Melanie was very kind and attentive. The menu choices are very diverse and should please every pallet. We ordered drinks and got a recommendation from the bartender for Macallen 18 Bourbon, it was tasty and we got a generous pour, (neat), but at $72 per... read more

The loss of the old Dancing Bear to a fire 2 years ago was keenly felt among the locals. It had establlshed a reputation for absolutely excellent food and wine in a unique ambiance. The new Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro has taken on the mantle of its predecessor, but is imbued with its own signature. The staff were all friendly,... More

New restaurant only opened a week. Excellent food with a limited selection of entrees- 6 to 7 choices. Good selection of appetizers, salads and desserts. Theme is farm-to -table. Beautiful interior of restaurant. Noise level high due to type of construction. Excellent service. Expensive, but great choice for a special occasion.

Great food, atmosphere, wine list and more. Service was fantastic even on a very busy night. Original Appalachian cuisine with a sophisticated twist.

The food (trout, scallops and 20 oz ribeye) was amazingly delicious. The new owners are hands on and so very nice.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro is a gem in Townsend! We were so glad to see this new restaurant/event center rise from the ashes (literally) after the devastating fire that destroyed the former complex. The new restaurant has an updated vibe, and the menu is influenced by locally available produce and sustainably sourced meats and seafood. There is a clear southern... More

I don't try new things often, however, Chef Shelley has a way of cooking that will change your mind on foods you may be on the fence about. The menu offered is unlike anything I've ever had before and I can not say enough how surprised I was to like things I typically do not like. The compote offered on... More

Farm to table, delicious light healthy and sophisticated, I ate there every night I stayed at the lodge. The setting is beautiful, perfect place to unwind and relax. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I was traveling on business alone, Dusty the manager welcome me and made me feel right at home.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful evening and a delicious, delightful dining experience last night at the new Dancing Bear. The atmosphere is comfortable, upscale mountain rustic. Cocktails at the bar, prepared by Mike, were enjoyed and not rushed before we were seated. Yvonne, our server, was attentive and engaging without ever being annoying. The food... Chef Shelley is... On our way home to Sanibel we stayed at the Dancing Bear and were able to get an invite to a "soft opening" dinner at the Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro. Dinner was fabulous, adventurous and creative. Loved the Beet/Goat cheese salad although thought the portion was too small. My husband had the Veal Cheeks and I had the Trout stuffed... More
