I know this restaurant received Trip Advisors top award, but there is NO WAY that this restaurant should be 5 star/excellent. I am a former "Road Warrior" and have traveled to over 46 countries an most of the states in the US. FOOD- Average Average, both American(burger) and Russian(Stuffed cabbage. I have had a better burger at the "Cook Out"... More

Just like all of the other reviewers said, you will not be sorry that you stopped at this small hole in the wall. The food is wonderful the owners are delightful and the view of the river is beautiful. It is definitely worth a stop to have a wonderful meal in this cute little place.

What a cozy little restaurant. We had the Russian special and cabbage rolls and both were great! We were the only ones here at the beginning of our meal but made welcome on a cold winter day.

I never expected to find Russian food in the small town of Newport. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Grill 73. It has a wonderful atmosphere, food, and management. I have eaten there twice and both times enjoyed wonderful food. So far I have had the borsch, pierogi, and the cabbage rolls stuffed with lamb. The owners of the Grill... More

Once in Newport we wanted to stop for dinner and got online for reccos. Ended up at Grill 73 -- an American Russian restaurant. We had potato piroschkes with homemade honey mustard sauce (wow!), I had cabbage rolls (chicken and rice with two mysterious and delicious sauces on top), M had a burger with fries that had some kind of... I met my grown kids at the Grill 73 for lunch, as it is halfway between Nashville TN and Columbia SC, and had one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in a while. The food was excellent. The owner/cook was extremely friendly and the menu though not vast had plenty of variety. This was my first experience eating Russian... More

Its a little off of the beaten path, but well worth it. Grill 73 is a small café with a toasty woodstove set into a river rock chimney, the décor was hand made by the Russian couple who own the restaurant...hand carved tables, door frames and walls; cozy, friendly and comfortable. The food is delicious, the spices are perfect. We... More

What a great little place to eat!! The menu is small but the flavor is big! My husband and I had an appetizer, two dinners, two drinks AND dessert- ALL for $36. The stroganoff and cabbage rolls were outstanding! I can't remember the name of the appetizer, but the crepe for dessert- mouthwatering!! Can't wait to go back and try... More

Tiny place with a small menu, but it's authentic. The owner is Russian and she makes her food from scratch. It's worth stopping by! Also, the river is across the street and there are picnic tables out there as well. Note: This restaurant is seasonal and closes over the winter.
