I love this place. It's great for a quick, inexpensive and healthy lunch. By the name, Calypso is a Caribbean themed restaurant. Not totally authentic but dang, is it good. My favorites are the BBQ chicken black bean salad or the Beans and Three. The salad is kind of like a taco salad but much better. Fresh pulled chicken along... More

This restaurant is NOT on Elliston any more (near Vanderbilt). It is now on Charlotte. (In other words, it moved from a strip mall to an industrial street.) But the food is great. It is Caribbean/Barbecue. The chicken and beef are delicious and come with very tasty sides. There is zero atmosphere but the staff is pleasant, if mildly interested.... More

I have been to all 3 locations of this Nashville staple and find the food consistently great. Try one of the huge salads - the Black Bean, the Lucayan, or the Chicken and Veggies are a few my friends and I love. Make sure to try the BBQ sauce. It's very unique and I always order extra. I like to... More

This establishment is off the beaten path but it is quite the find when you get there. Fresh prepared food and Carib vibe....

My all-time favorite, vegetarian dish at Calypso is the Black Bean Salad with rice. Their homemade BBQ sauce is fabulous. (If you are vegan, leave off the sour cream and cheese.) My husband is is lactose intolerant and orders Lucayan Chicken or Jerk Chicken. Try the Lime Coconut Bar for dessert. I take out-of-town guests here since I am from... More

I love the Rotisserie Chicken and Callaloo. They make great Sweet Potatos (whipped) and Boija Muffins are a treat too. The vibe is bohemian but the service is usually pretty good. Great for families and it's very affordable.

What a great, healthy alternative to the heavy foods available in town! You must have the fruit iced tea and ANYTHING on the menu is scrumptious! The service is great and the decor is very fun. This is a MUST!

Stopped by here for lunch while visiting the city with my boys aged 15 and 11. The menu made all 3 of us happy, with healthy choices that tasted great. Our server was friendly and helpful. The black beans and rice were favorites....all for an affordable price.

I've eaten several salads here - they are huge, tasty, and ready in a flash. You can get in and out quickly, without suffering from a blah or greasy meal! The cornbread muffins are hard to resist.
